I recently bought a '96 RL. It has 160k miles on it. I've done all normal tune-up items, plugs, fuel filter, air filter, oil change, but I still have what feels like an engine miss. It seems to be from idle up to about 3000 RPMs. It's most noticable in gear. When in neutral, it's still there but you can't feel it as much. It also doesn't occur all the time. One day it runs fine, the next day it has a horrible miss. From the searches I've done, it seems the EGR may be the problem but I'm not sure. Has anyone else had such a problem, and what was your solution? Also, there are no check engine lights or error codes.

I took the EGR and tubing out and cleaned it all. It runs much better now.

clean out the intake manifold too?

I cleaned out the inlet hole where the EGR tube connects to the intake. The difference is night and day the way it runs now.
