MY FIRST POST USING PICS, SORRY FOR THE SIZE.

I was checking this Legend out a few weeks back via Autotrader. I scoped it out while he was at work so I could see it while it was still daylight. The interior doesn't look the best, but it has a very clean exterior, with just a couple of very minor blemishes. The only other thing is that it has Kelly Charger tires in the front, which of course don't match the GoodYear's in the back. But I didn't really want to spend the $7,100 he was asking(even though in my area, it's nearly impossible to get a clean, unmolested Honda/Acura for private book). It has since showed up in the local newspaper classifieds at $6,495 obo. I called, and he said he would take $6,250. It has 82,000 miles, he's the third owner, been garaged most of it's life. 75,000 mile service has been done, but not the T-belt/water pump, etc. Was that due at 60k or is it due at 90k? Can someone tell me the cost of that at Dealer and at a Import/Honda/Acura shop off the top of their head? He said he was selling it to raise some money for his musclecars, which I did see at parked at his house.

Here is some pics of the car he sent me:

Here is a pic I snapped at his house (wet morning):

What should I look out for when I drive it later today? What would totally turn you away from purchasing a Legend? What are common problems or repairs that turn out costing much more than other cars?

Any info/advice is much appreciated.

That would be nice if people around NW Oregon/SW Washington used Edmonds instead of KBB, but hey...what can you do? Seriously man, I'm laughing at those Edmonds prices they're so low. But I notice on autotrader.com if I do a nation wide search prices are usually a little closer to edmunds than KBB.

I looked for a car for my sis for a good month, budget of around $8k. I probably test drove 30 cars (Max's, Acuras, Hondas, Toys). Toasted trannies, strange smells from the engine bay, bad titles, on and on. The best car I found was a mint 2nd owner 97 Lexus ES300 w/107k. And I was lucky to get it for $8,700 (KBB $9500 I think at the time for Private Party). A lot anywhere around my area would have had the car at $11-12K.

Just go to autotrader.com, my zip is 97303. The stipulations are 4dr AT. $5,000-6,500. The car is for my mother.

So anyway, IF the car runs good, I need to get him to drop the price another $500 minimum to take care of the T-belt/water pump/etc.

And with everyone in my area going by KBB, this car books at $7,050. He'll probably say he's already letting it go low enough for the buyer to replace the T-belt/etc.

[email protected] DAMN I hate my local market. After I sold my Eclipse GSX last May, I was thinking about going for a 94+ 1.8L Miata and turbo it. KBB's ridiculous book was around $3-3500. I couldn't find a clean one for less than $5k! For a car that when new, was what...$15K.

Thanks for the input.

BTW, was the Tbelt due at 60K or 90K?

I called a well known/respected Honda/Acura shop and they quoted me $550.

Okay, lets see. The interior and exterior of this car were literally perfect. That is all I can say. I had a friend of mine come along who has been selling cars for three years and he completly agreed.

It idles perfect, has plenty of power, it doesn't look like it's 12 years old.

But (always a but), the transmission felt a little rough going from 1st to 2nd while cornering. Like making a turn from a stop. It downshifted and upshifted quickly and efficiently. Just felt a hiccup when starting and turning.

Any simple solution?

Does anyone have a CarFax and wouldn't mind running it?

I was just looking through the FAQ...what model is the car I'm looking at? The FAQ shows those wheels on: 91-95 coupe (L), 91-92 coupe (LS), 95 sedan (SE) - 15", 7 spokes

Chimuyo1, your not serious are you? Piston rings? Your talk about stripping the block! thousands of dollars for those repairs or as you say preventative maintenance.

These cars seem as troublesome as DSMs and I don't want to join, or should I say...have my mother join a camp like that as that is who this car would be for.
