i can see in the helm manual that there are two screws to remove under the ashtray, but i removed them, and the wood trim around the shifter still wont budge. im afraid to pull really hard, but do you guys have any tips on removing this wood trim from around the shifter? do i just pull it up, or is it locked down and i have to somehow unlock the hinges from each corner? thanks

The black plastic around the shifter has to be popped out first, then the wood will release with some pressure, usually a bit more pressure than you might think.

thanks for the reply, i just got it, it does take more effort than expected. i just didnt feel like putting too much pull into it, the wood trim looks so nice, that it is hard to convince yourself to pull harder. anyways, i got it, thanks again.
