Hey guys, I'm new to this board and I'm also a relatively new 93 Acura Legend L owner. I also have no knowledge whatsoever about car audio. Here is my story:
I've had the car for a few months and I love it. However, I really wanted a CD changer so I recently purchased the Alpine CHM-S630 6 CD changer and the Peripheral ACUALP adapter. The installation went fine and when I tested it out the sound was good and everything seemed normal. Later that night I took the car out for a ride and I was listening to some CDs at a normal volume and once again, it was fine. The next day was around a 95 degree scorcher in Southern California and when I went to take my car out at 2 pm in the afternoon my right rear speaker started making loud popping and distorted noises when the volume was still at a normal level. I figured I had blown out the speaker completely and I needed to replace it. However, later that night when it cooled down my right rear speaker was fine and the sound was perfect again. So I guess this is where I should ask my questions:
1) Is it just the heat that is frying the rear speaker during the day? I mean it seems blown out to me but it's just weird that it is PERFECT at night.
2) Is it completely blown out? If so, what kind of speaker should I replace it with. I know that it's a 6 X 9 speaker. But is there an amp built into the speaker like I've heard about with these Bose system speakers? Will a 4 ohm aftermarket speaker work? Will the sound actually be WORSE than it was before since these speakers were made specifically for this Bose system? Obviously, I will replace both rear speakers if I have to. Remember, I'm clueless.
All I want is the old sound back. I'm a poor college student so I have very little money to spend. I already splurged on that CD changer. ANY help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance guys.
