a/c compressor removal.

Hi everyone,

Now I know somewhere one of you guys has done this.
I followed the manual instructions to remove the a/c compressor, ie remove right hand wheel, right radius tie rod, disconnect the a/c hoses, remove the 4 compressor bolts and compressor mount, disconnected clutch relay etc, but the compressor is still to big to get out of the remaining space. THE MANUAL LIED TO ME. What do I have to do ????? Remove the crossmember ???? What am I not doing that the manual fails to state ???

its hard to get it out but you have to turn it and pull down really hard and if you unbolt the two big bolts to the right of the radius rod towards the bumper it helps a lot. I have replaced mine three times so i know it can be a pain but belive me it does come down that way.
Hi Krizno,

Love the color. Was that a factory color in the US, or have you had the paint job done yourself? Nice neat lines.
Did you pull the compressor out forward or to the rear of the crossmember?
What 2 big bolts? On the side of the wall of the car?
Me again,

I got it out after 2 hours of stuffing about. :giggle: What a pain !!! You would think there would be a simpler way. It took a fair bit of force to get the clutch ring to go though. I had to remove a bolt at the base of the oil dipstick tube that was getting in the way. I am not looking forward to putting it back in. Can't believe you did it 3 times. How come ???

With A/C hoses out you should also be able to remove/install compressor fairly easy thru the top... holding the clutch with a little bit of fanagling, thru the small opening... :)
The reason i did it three times is pick n pull every time i pulled a compressor it didnt work until the thrid one.So now that i think of i pulled it like six times three times out of the cars at pick n pull and three time out of my car. And the car was painted that color.
