hey guys and gals,
recently purchased a used weapon r intake off this forum and works fine.(in a 90 legend ls coupe, auto) notice pickup is lil bit faster and all but was just wondering is the intake also suppose to make my fuel economy drop a lil too?
noticed that i filled up my tank this past friday, 8.9.02 and now take is on half. 8.11.02:eek2: :werd:
is this normal? is it cuz the air has to travel less distance and is consuming more in in less time and distance that the o2 sensors are telling my fuel mix to mix in more...plz feed back.
thanks.

Installing an aftermarket intake will affect your fuel economy.
is there anything i can do to maintain the mileage in my tank?

thanks vince,
was a wondering is there ne thing else i can do to maintain the mileage in my tank to what it was before besides putting my old intake back on?

it should be improving gas mileage. unless the intake came with some lead that went on your foot

haha, additional lead that went to your foot. classic.
:giggle:
Yup. Making the car go "whoosh" so you can listen and impress your chick, does tend to make the gas needle point towards E.

Question bro, how exactly did you modify it to fit the Automatic, can you provide any pics? Did you angle it? Move the cable somehow?

I'd really like to know how you did it.
not easy tho...but fun xperience

hey future,
i'll do my best to xplain since i did not put it in myself, but my friends and ALL their shrimp fried ricer friends did the job for me. i just aided and watched.
first it is a :****: trying to take out the stock intake since one of the screws/latch is located on the bottom of the stock intake making it hard for tools and ppl with big fingers to reach.... . May take some time...when u do take it out...depending on what intake u have( i have a weapon r intake and here is what the intake looks like, sorry no digicamera for picture of my intake:( )
All i was told was that u had to move the overdrive cable, it is the cable that is held by the stock intake should be on a connector right above the stock intake. we just move it a lil' bit back to make room.
now i had to have the intake at an angle not too much it is held in place by the rubber hose cuz the i can not figure out how to actually make contact from the throttle body oriface to the opening on the intake so i had to move the rubber hose on the intake back a lil. later i prolly will figure out something. but for now it is in place u may have to move ur battery a tad bit to the right too to make room for the filter.
well that is all i could recall and think of. i hope it was of some use.
