I know that at some point there's a maximum number of private messages that can be kept in your PM box, but does that maximum number include both inbox, sent, and message tracking or is it strictly inbox and sent or just inbox?

It includes all three...The maximum number is counted from all three of those folders...

Actually, I believe that it is only the sent and inbox that is counted in the total, and that it starts bouncing incoming messages at 20 (though I believe that you can still send).

You can only send it you unclick "save a copy of the message"
