I installed one piece 90-93 Accord headlights into my 87 Legend coupe. I haven't finished the job, but it looks like I won't have time to finish anytime soon, so I might as well show everybody what I've done so far. Keep in mind that this is a work in progress, and the car is filthy. From the front:

My front bumper rides a little low on the passenger side (even after replacing the bracket), and I forgot to put the rubber strip back on under the passenger light. This creates a larger vertical gap at the bottom of the passenger light than the driver side. Here's a better view:

There is a crescent shaped gap between the light and the bumper, due to the different curve on the accord. I'm going to use pieces I cut from an accord bumper to fill in this gap. You can see this best from overhead:

Here's a close up view of the light. You can see that the accord light doesn't run as far back along the fender as stock lights. You can also see how the accord light fits closely against the grill. I had to remove the side brackets on the grill. This pic has a slight fish eye effect which exagerates the gap between the bumper and light:

Overall, the fit of the lights is good. The general shape of the accord lights matches the legend coupe lights. The lights are bounted from below, using brackets I fashioned out of metal strips. I'll post some more pics of the mounting brackets when I get around to yanking the bumper off.

hey man, I am working on my lights also.... just wanted to point out that the depth gap is going to be harder to cover up than you think... I sorta have the same problem with mine.

The lights look pretty good, does the bezil color match the car color?

also, it looks like there on the corner the legeds lights whet back further than the accord lights do. What do you plan on fixing that with?

oh yeah, WASH YOUR CAR! :p

Looks great and will look even better when you're all finished with those gaps. Are the lights tight in place and adjusted correctly? To me that would be the most difficult part because of the completely different mounting places for the light. Post more pics as your work progresses :).

The actual lights themselves look great. but the fit & finish is terrible(not your fault), how do you plan on closing the gap(s)?
If you can get it to look seemless it will really look great. :D

I couldn't use the original mounting brackets (wrong positions and heights). My first attempt was to cut and remount the brackets on the lights. Even after a lot of work, the lights kept wobbling and eventually broke free. Currently, the lights are mounted from below. The lights came with two mounting posts on the bottom. I simply connnected these to some miscellaneous bolts on the car with flat metal bars I got from the hardware store. This new mounting scheme took 10% of the time, and is many times stronger. No wobble in the lights at all.

For the fender gap, I'm going to use a heap of bondo. The metal that used to run behind the corner light is still there, and should support the bondo.

For the bumper gap, I've already fashioned two 'L' shaped pieces from an accord bumper. Once I shave down the vertical part of the bumper (where the rubber attaches), I intend to epoxy the accord pieces on top. This will match the curve of the lights exactly. I will bondo/sand the seam where the L pieces meet the bumper. On the drivers side, this should also almost eliminate the vertical gap. I haven't decided wheter I should try and build up the bumper further, or just get a fatter rubber strip (leaner towards more rubber).

The passenger side of the bumper hangs low (an old wreck screwed up the frame). I had thought it was just matter of replacing the side bracket (which helped a lot). I still have to figure out a solution.

I know it looks rough now, but it's still an improvement over the old look. I had my corner lights stolen twice. :(

I have decided once the bills are pay and i get a bit of money, I will go for this conversion. The reason being looks, need, and want. The stock head lights cant be reaimed do to the fact that the housings are crack in a few areas like where the aimer screw is supposed to thread into. Anway Im hoping to do this mod this month. A few questions though.

Did you pick up an accord bumper at the junk yard and if so is it worth it to obtain just to fabricate the L peices?

Also you can see the hood just hanging a tiny bit over the light near the grill.
What ideas do you have about fixing that or are you going to address that?

The third question is there is 5 positions for bulbs right? 2 for low and high beams and 2 for the corner lights(amber/and clear position lights). So whats the last one going to be used for?

Are you going to be using the stock wiring and legend lighting setup?
If so waht do you think about using this setup?

I know I have alot of questions possibly stupid or whatever but thanks in advance and keep moding.

For the accord pieces, I just went to a junkyard, found a 90-93 accord, and took my hacksaw to the bumper, cutting out the sections I wanted. I had to pay something like $1.50 for both pieces, as opposed to paying for the whole bumper.

For the wiring, the accord lights I used came with all the bulbs (with accord connectors). I picked up the female parts of the wiring at the junkyard, from the same source as the bumper pieces. All I had to do was cut off the legend plugs and match up the wires. I think I may have had one left over wire on the legend, but I'm not sure. At any rate, the corner light, high beams, and regular lights all work. The onepiecers are also easier to aim than stock lights, since they have adjustable aiming screws on the back.

As far as the hood overhang goes, my goal is to cut the hood and fender to match the lights. I'm waiting on that phase until i have enough money to repaint the whole car, since both bumpers and rear trunk are flaking. The overhang doesn't bother me as much as the bumper and fender gaps.

The nice thing about the fender gap is that the legend has a plate behind the corner light which will provide the structural support for my mass 'o bondo.

Are you going to make a DIY? Anyway it really isnt to difficult just tedious to get the parts and do the body work. THe end result will definetely be worth it. Let us know how the wiring was done and pics are key. Peace and keep up the good work.

So looking at your photo I would have to say that basically those lights do not fit. Um..square peg round hole. Is it really worth the time it will take to make it work?

If so, then I would take the lights out and make a filler piece out of thin carboard, cover with fiberglass, bondo, spot putty etc. Install filler piece, then install light into filler piece.

Unfortunately, I wasted a ton of time trying to find a way to hang the accord lights from the Legend's stock brackets, and ultimately abandoned that approach altogether. That amount of wasted time sucked the joy out of the whole process. So for me, it's been a pretty close call on if it was worth it. I'd say just barely worth it. Even though it doesn't fit now, I can see how the final project will turn out, and I think it will look purty.

I would also recommend this upgrade if you are also planning on replacing the front bumper with an aftermarket accord bumper, since you'd theoretically have no curvature issues.

So I finally recieve my headlights thinking this is going to be a great mod, but to my surprise their the wrong ones. They arent the onepiecer chrome accord 90-93 headlights i won of the auction. No they are some stupid crx civic projector headlights. So now on top of the shipping I already paid and the Import fee i paid UPS I have to send the lights back paid by my self and wiat for the right ones to come. Plus i might have to pay another brokerage fee(import fee). So when Wooga says barely worth it. I definetely concur and i havent even had the "fun" of trying to install them. BOO HOO this is not my day. :(

Are you sure they are Civic / CRX lights? What year? Post some pics, or e-mail some to me. I may be interested in taking them off of your hands, depending on what year, which style they are, and the price (for my '90 Civic of course....).

Wow I missed this thread. around the same time I was trying to install my accord one peace on my car and it is a challenge.

I will have to post some pics when the weather warms up.

From What I see

1. Brackets has to be custom made to mount the headlights.
2. The headlights's mounting points may have to be modified.
3. A Drenel tool is required
4. Accord wiring is recomended.

From what is see in the pic I had another approach.

I actually modified my fender to extend itself to the bends in the corner part of the headlights. That way we have no gaps but the stock may not be able to go back on easy!
I will then have a bodyshop weld or bondo it into a perfect curve that it will jot look bad. (Sides)

I will have to take some pics for you to understand me.

I am working on this mod. I have 2 legends so I am doing a trial and error.
I feel it can be done without a accord bumper my way and still look good.

does anyone know if a whole bumper can fit and look good after you adjust the brakets and mount it on the car?
