Alarm/ignition system problem (kind of long)

691 Views 4 Replies 2 Participants Last post by  Johnny Kim
So, for the second day in a row, my car (92 Legend Coupe) won't stay on. I basically activate the remote start, get in the car, put the key in the ignition, press the brake to shift into gear, and the car dies. I try to start it regularly, and it starts, but as soon as I let go of the key, and it moves back to the "on" position, the car dies. I finally decided to call Prestige/Audiovox for help. I have an APS750 remote start/security system. Of course, they say it's something with my car, and not the remote start.

Since I'm trying to isolate all issues, could it even be the car? I was thinking there would be some way for it to be an ignition problem, but I don't know where to start. If any of you have some ideas, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Chris.

hav you used the remote starter successfully in the past? or is this your first time?
I've had the car for a month, and best believe, every time I went to show the car, or drive it, I used the remote start. LOL. I've even let it run the 10 minute timer on it out, started it again, and drove it off. I cannot think of what it could be.
OK, I've found out that it's the car. I turn the key to on, and no lights come on the dash. I turn it halfway to start, and the lights come one. I turn it all the way to start, and the car starts, and will continue to run as long as I hold the key, but as soon as the key is released, the car shuts off. Any ideas?
