I was on my way home today, driving in the far right lane of a road that is 2 lanes in each direction. I was driving beside another guy that was in the left lane. Infront of him there was a person stoped in his lane waiting to make a left hand turn. The guy beside me decided that instead of slowing down he wanted to switch lanes. So he did, but the only problem with that was that I was there. When he started to move over, I had to slam on my breaks and the horn, but he didnt hear the horn I guess becasue he continued into my lane. The only thing left to do to avoid a wreck was to swerve to my right. Unfortunatly there was a curb there. I ended up curbing both rims on the right side of my car and a chunck of my tires side wall is missing. At first I thought to stop and check to make sure my tires werent flat, but then i decided to chase him down. He wouldnt pull over even though i was blowing the horn at him and waving my hand out the window. I followed him to a local Harris Teeter, and confronted him about it. He just blew me off!! I was pissed so I called the cops at that point. After about 30 min. they show up and I tell them my side of the story. The police then walked inside and talked to the other guy. Basically what the police told me was that b/c there was no contact of our cars, there is no case. Insurance will see this as a 1 car wreck (me). All I want is for 2 new rims and a tire! They said that we would have to settle it in civil court. Anyways here are some pictures, but I'll get some better ones in the morning.

I guess the damage is nothing compared to what could have happened, but I'm still pissed that nothing can be done. grrrrr

Yea...when I was talking to the police, he wouldnt actually say it, buy he def. hinted toward just getting in the wreck next time b/c it would have been his fault.

the damage doesnt look to bad, just take your wheels to a local wheel repair shop, and they should be able to fix the damage for 100 bucks per wheel

The damage is nothing compared to what it could have been. And yes, a shop can fix my rims, but it just sucks b/c I have to pay for it.

Don't even report something like this to your insurance company, your rates will go up....

I dont plan to report this b/c insurance will see this as a 1 car wreck and from their point of view I am the bad driver.

Anyways, my dad and I are going to talk to the guys lawyer today and see if we cant get any money out of this. I'll keep u guys updated, but I am glad my Legend is in one piece!
