My 91 has the same light on since I have bought it. I would love just to make the light turn off. Is that possible? I do not really care about the ABS, unless it is an easy fix....but would be interested in hearing possible issues to fix to keep the ABS functioning.

Pull the code for the ABS first, you do it the same way as a CEL just watch the ABS light flashes instead. It could be the motor as Russian said or it could just be one of the wheel sensors. The wheel sensors are much cheaper and easier to replace.

What Ari One said, plus that online service manual section 19 has the codes
for ABS lights. One long flash means Pump Motor Overrun. One long followed
by two short flashes means Pump Motor Circuit Problem. Etc., etc.. Check
the Online Service Manual for more detailed info. ABS is aprox. page 19-56;
the ABS index is on 19-1.
