Anyone ever have issues with their timing belt?

I know getting your timing belt replaced at 105,000 miles is crucial (I'm at 115,000 with my '96 RL), but I was wondering if anyone has ever had their timing belt break or go out on them? If so, at what mileage did it go?

Also, about how much am I going to have to pay to get it replaced (timing belt)?

I have replaced two timing belts. Once at 105k miles and the second time at 220k miles. The dealer told me it should be done every 90k miles but it was so damn expensive that I rolled the dice. With both Timing Belt services, they also replaced all of my belts and hoses, Water pump and of course the timing belt. I have heard of people that never replaced their timing belts and have had no drama but I guess they got me with the "major engine repair scare" so I went ahead and did it. I was originally quoted $940 for the service at the dealer and then was informed that since my RL was a '99, the labor was more extensive and it was $1300. I had a coupon for 10% off from the dealer.

It took about three weeks for my stitches to heal but my car runs great and I hope to have the same problem when I get to 320k miles. I am sure you can find a non dealer type to do it cheaper. Good Luck either way.
I had the belt changed on my 96 at 100k. I did not have it changed again and it went to 251k. I had a timing belt break on a Camry once and there was no engine damage. I believe that damage happens to what is called an "inteference engine" although I do not know if the RL has an interference engine...
