You need to remember that if you buy your own parts and take them to your mechanic for him/her to install there will be no warranty. When the shop buys the parts they add on a bit so that it will help cover the labor if the part fails and they have to do the labor a second time at no charge.

My shop i use does not practice this, seeing as i only have him install honda oem parts. One time one of there mechanics bent the hub on my integra while installing new bearings, and the replaced my hub free of charge (after about a month of trying to diagnose why my car was vibrating so much)

Raxles are the best quality replacemwents available. I love mine. I changed them out myself. Drivers side 30 minutes. Passenger side 15 minutes.

damn, that seems fast! I'm gonna have to do this some day, Ive been paying all these years, to keep my hands clean but if it could be done in an hour, it's time to save some money!

my mechanic did it for $150. but it was 2 years ago. but things got costlier.

go to Kragen, Schucks, or Checkers, 60 each for reman with lifetime warranty from cardone or new ones for like 80 each. I have always used them never had any problems.

I agree...I have NO TOOLS and NO TIME and NO EXTRA CAR. So I write off the extra cost for the price of convenience. You should get a loaner car, and not have to get your hands dirty and also have it installed by a Honda/Acura Certified Mechanic and the warranty comes with it. So if you look at all this then there is where the extra money is going and so then you get pece of mind. My Ol' Lady is driving mine right now while I'm in Iraq (basically grocery getting and picking up kids) so when there is work that needs to be done while I am out of town then I cant leave her without a vehicle. Also when I get ready to rid myself of the car (someday) I have all dealer records of my service (I believe this will keep my asking price solid for the car, specially major things like axles). Depends on your situation. If youre handy, have the time and the tools...and the patience then I say go for it and do a DIY for schmucks like me that dont have a matching craftsman tool in the house.....yet.
