Help please.

A friend of mine is looking for some kind of a device to mount on the back of his SUV to sense if there is a car behind him. He is thinking about some kind of a ultra sound sensor or something similar.

Has anyone had any experience with any kind of sensors and just what is out there? Anything good?

Yes I have installed and tested several of these devices in two SUVs (a Hummer and an MDX).

The most recent device I have installed is the Backup Sensor with voice warnings from autotoys.com. They also have one with a visual indicator.

The one I had in the Hummer was sound only (the beeps got quicker and quicker as the object got closer). There was also a backup camera and monitor as well.

What do you think of them? Do they do a good job? Or do they miss some objects?
