Yea, they have a bad reputation with that and insurance companies. They are seriously overpriced. If the car is drivable, I would tie the trunk down and get different estimates. See how much the insurance wants to give you?

There is a 93 sherwood green sedan on highway 53 towards Ardmore for sale on the left hand side. He wants 2,300 obo for it. You could use it for parts and fix yours back up. It even has new headgaskets.
