Car died twice lately

Like the title says, my Legend has died out of nowhere twice over the last few days. The first time i was parked and warming it up. The RPM's dropped, the car shut off, then the oil and battery lights went on. Then it started up right away. Same thing happened the other day. I was at a stop light, and it just died out of nowhere. Then it started right up again. There wasn't really any shaking or anything. Its pretty sudden. I searched but i didn't know what exactly to search for. What could it be? I've had some coolant problems but they've been gone for a while after replacing thermostat and water pump. If its a big problem, i'll consider selling and getting something newer because there's lots of other things that need work on this car.

If it is any condolence, the same thing happens in my G1 from time to time. Happened a few nights ago when I went to downshift, just randomly died. That was fun on the ice when I was expecting to get more control!

And I can be of no help, sorry.
weird... the exact thing happened to me about 3 nights ago. was idling at a stop sign, and it just cut off. it started again with no problems, and hasn't happened since. i would be interested in finding out what the deal is too...
There are a few things that can go wrong and probably went wrong. The question is; what have you guys done to diagnose your problem?
You said you replaced the thermostat. It could be that the grounding wire isn't on tight enough or the wire is frayed so as to not make a good connection. Just a thought.

Also, just for the heck of it, have you re-checked you battery cables? Doesn't hurt to try.

The thermostat was replaced almost 2 years ago and it hasn't been a problem since, but i don't know. I'll check the battery cables. As for diagnosing, i didn't know where to start.
One of two items. You say there was no stumbling. A fuel pump failure would cause pressures to drop and there would be at least a momentary stumble at idle. A bad ignition switch would cause a car to die instantly, perhaps a main relay. Or, a solid shot of water in the fuel would cause it to die at idle or run very rough at speed, then once the water is used up, it runs again. Typically when it is water, you are in the middle of a turn or going up or down a hill - or just leaving the gas station. But to me, it sound more electrical, something turned voltage off to the coils.
I'm leaning towards main relay. Yours might be nearing the end of it's life.
Ditto on the main. If you need more info on that, click on the link in my sig.
Bad ignition switch would mean that as soon as you turn the key the car would usually die. You would have to hold the key in the on position. I'm betting this sounds like it's the problem a bad main relay will usually result in hard starts but I haven't seen it shut off liked described.
But i don't have to hold the key in the ON position. It died after it was running. Is it still the ignition switch?

I guess i will look into replacing the ignition switch and maybe even the main relay too just to be sure, depending on cost.
Idle air control motor would cause this also.
