Like the title says, my Legend has died out of nowhere twice over the last few days. The first time i was parked and warming it up. The RPM's dropped, the car shut off, then the oil and battery lights went on. Then it started up right away. Same thing happened the other day. I was at a stop light, and it just died out of nowhere. Then it started right up again. There wasn't really any shaking or anything. Its pretty sudden. I searched but i didn't know what exactly to search for. What could it be? I've had some coolant problems but they've been gone for a while after replacing thermostat and water pump. If its a big problem, i'll consider selling and getting something newer because there's lots of other things that need work on this car.

You said you replaced the thermostat. It could be that the grounding wire isn't on tight enough or the wire is frayed so as to not make a good connection. Just a thought.

Also, just for the heck of it, have you re-checked you battery cables? Doesn't hurt to try.
The thermostat was replaced almost 2 years ago and it hasn't been a problem since, but i don't know. I'll check the battery cables. As for diagnosing, i didn't know where to start.

But i don't have to hold the key in the ON position. It died after it was running. Is it still the ignition switch?

I guess i will look into replacing the ignition switch and maybe even the main relay too just to be sure, depending on cost.
