It means a blink Code is being displayed on the ECU. It's under the passenger seat.
It Means that the ECU (Electronic Control Unit, Engine Control Unit, or engine computer) has picked up a fault in the Programmed Fuel Injection System and/or the emissions system.

Look under the passenger seat (facing the front of the car) while the car is running and tell us how many times the red LED falshes.
Blink # regarding Check Engine Light

it blinks 12 times
You have to lick the ecu 12 times, drconnilingus...LOL
It still blinks at me........LOL
Maybe it's "winking".... I think 12 blinks might indicate something to do with the EGR. Let me find the link to the trouble codes...

What on earth does EGR mean?....Extra Groovy RimJob maybe?
Code 12 = Exhaust Gas Recirculation System, probably the EGR Valve, but could be as simple as a vacuum leak in a tube. There's a 12-page diagnostic in the manual.
Great link. Thank you . I couldn't find my trouble codes.
I have a code 7, meaning the throttle angle sensor or circuit. Im trying to get the harness, 07GMJ-ML80100 or equivalent per a link I got here at this forum.
Anyone know where to get it? The dealer here hasn't a clue what Im talking about. I didn't talk to service but only the parts people.
This forum is really great. I inherited my daughter's '88 Legend and am trying to get it smogged. Can't with the TPS code. I was going to get it smogged then sell it. More I read here, the more I tend to want to keep it. Have to watch the cost though. If it weren't so expensive to keep, I'd have no problem deciding to keep it.
Anyway, great forum. Thanks for any help I can get to get this test harness.
There's a sketch type diagram of the thing in the manual where the code diagnostic is located. Could be easy enough to patch together a simple version of same. (11-30 in '88 Coupe OEM Manual).

Or, you could just nic the wire insulation for meter test probes, then tape over later.

Try Scott Edwards over at ACURA of ESCONDIDO. Their ebay store is down now but e-mail him. He's a very helpful person. If he can't help you, it's hopeless... Scott Edwards <[email protected]>
Where can I get an EGR valve, from a dealer only?
Mine blinks 8 times, meaning TDC sensor. After 30 minutes of driving it comes on, and I have to restart the car or it runs on severely retarded timing. Hooray for minimum wage.
