Courtesy lights out. Dome working perfectly

4420 Views 8 Replies 4 Participants Last post by  L3g3nd4Yaz
Just changed the window regulator on my rear right door, during the process of testing, I accidentally used the wrong connector (courtesy lights) and plugged it to my power window. I have now put everything back together and plugged it in correctly.

However my courtesy lights do not seem to light up at all now. I have checked all light related fuses, and even unplugged the relay but nothing I do has brought back the courtesy lights.

The dome light works as it should, and even dims when its supposed to do so.

Recap:
Door indicator on dash: OK
Dome light: OK, dims after the cut off time.
Courtesy light: Not working on all four doors.

Anyone know what could be wrong?

sounds like you fried the ICU, that's a tuff job! (The fuse panel has to be removed to access it.)

The proper name: Integrated Control Unit, it's a real "PITA" to get to, The part runs around $225.00 @ the dealer. I'd post in the WTB section or try feebay/ebay.

This multi-function control unit, located on the left kick panel, integrates on one circuit board the functions of the entry light control, key-in reminder, lights-on reminder, seat belt reminder, oil pressure indicator, side marker light flasher, pwer window key-off timer, intermittent wiper, and rear window defogger timer onto one circuit board, sharing common circuit functions.
If it indeed is the ICU, I think I've seen it before. That is a steep price to pay for one tho. Would it be the same part regardless of which side the driver side is on?

Funny thing is, all my other lights are working ok, just the courtesy lights which is annoying.
I might have that part in a box. What does it look like? Does it have a number on it?

i'll have to pull my interior trims off again, and see which one it is.

i dont know how to remove the fusebox, so im not sure how to get to it.
DUDE! did you check them with a multi meter lol? take the light bulbs out and check to see if you have voltage first before doing all that stupid crap. I had the same thing and low and behold every one of the light bulbs for the courtesy system were burnt out, but the dome light worked haha. So ya please use a multi meter they are like 15 bucks at walmart....

Yes i did :).

Checked the bulbs, then checked the wire connectors with a multimeter.

wierdly i was getting 12v on both wires.
Use the dome light as a reference voltage. I think its 24v between the 2 posts. As in once you talk the light bulb out from left to right side. let me know what you find out of feel free to give me a call.
The reason why I am saying that the whole thing is weird is because the dome lights and the courtesy lights are all on the same ckt so it doesnt make sense that the dome works and the rest do not. I bought all new light bulbs, the ones I had didnt look broken or anything yet they did not work.... put the new ones in and boom they all worked.
