MENTION asianlegend SENT YOU

A user who I believe is a member on the The Original Legend Forums , though I don't recall what his nickname is OR if he still posts there or anywhere produces custom-made clear-taillights for:

91-95' Acura Legend Coupe Clear Taillights
91-95' Acura Legend Coupe Red/Clear Tailights
96' Prelude clear turn signals
99' Prelude OEM Foglight look
95-98' Acura TL EuroClear turn signals
89-94' Maxima Clear Tailights

He says that he is able to do clears on just about any vehicle, as long as you are willing to provide your taillights for the experiment.

The last time I e-Mailed him, he says he'll charge $299/set  for the 91-95 Acura Legend Coupe Taillights and this includes both the LEFT and RIGHT Taillight Assemblies.

P.S. The last time I eMailed him, he was kind of in a slump, so if anyone is local to him and can help him increase his output, I and others, would greatly appreciate it! (umm, I haven't asked him if someone can help him, but it doesn't hurt to ask!)

P.S.S. I found this guy because he was at one time selling a set of 91-95 Legend Clears on eBay back in October, 2001, so I kept his 411.

He quoted me $250 for the job when I was talking to him about it...Look at the pics of his job, its not what you think it is...It doesn't look good at all IMO. Look around the edges of the tails, you can see how the shininess ends and you can see rubber gluey stuff...The transition just isn't smooth to me and looks cheap....And all he basically does with your tails is break the plastic, use plexi or fiberglass to make a clear version of your tails, sprays it with red spray for the red/clear ones, and then glues back...I wouldn't do it...

Good Looking out

Dayum! Good looking out asianlegend! I have been looking for that guys info every since I saw the auction on Ebay. He had the clear tails on a white Coupe. Looked phat too! I just purchased a set of tails for my Coupe to experiment with. I'm just going to send them to him now. Cool!:D :D :D

 Hmm... Interesting. I had three other contacts that do these clears for the Legend and I spoke to recipients for those three other contacts, and Phuong's came up with the best result.

Can you find better? If so, list it here!

Let us know what his ETA is. I know last time I spoke to him, it was delayed for some time due to personall issues. I had his info for a while, but, never heard many ask for it, until recently, so I dug it up and there it is now. Good Luck!

P.S. How much did you buy your OEM tails for and from where?

I haven't contacted him yet, but I will let you know what he says. I bought the tails off of ebay a while back for $75 for both. I bought them with the intention on getting them cleared, but I think white/red tails would look better. Still undecided though.

Your best bet is going with Streeteffectz in New Jersey. He only charges $150 and actually cuts the inner orange reflector out......He does awesome work....Go to the CL and TL forums, they all love his work.... www.acura-cl.com www.acura-tl.com Phuong brakes your entire lens up, go with "Ron" at Streeteffectz.

Problem is the Legend tail lights are designed different I think. The TL headlight and tail lights have a clear outer lense with the amber reflector inside the housing. So Streeteffectz seperate the lense from the housing and remove the amber peice. But on our legends, the outer lense of the tail light is amber, so there is nothing to take out in the housing. If you take away the amber lense, you'll have a hole in the tail light.

You are absolutely correct WhiteLegend. They are two very different parts and CANNOT be compared to each other. The Legend tailights are not as simple to clear out than any of you would think. I do this mostly for fun and experience and not for profit. I never said that my idea was the best. If you've found a better place that can do the job, then great. Go for it. I've never said that my prices were cheap nor are competitive either. I only charge that price mostly due to labor.

If you think you can do it yourself, then go ahead. I've heard so many say the same but did I see any results? No. If you'd only knew all the crap I'd go through in ONE week just to clear out ONE set, you'd understand. Clearing it out is a bit<h and Frankly, I could care less if nobody came to me with ANY offers.

Would you still be up to making a few sets? :) I have always wanted the half read/half clear like the Inspire tailighs and the 2002 TL tailights. I have a spare rear Coupe tailight that I could send you. I'd pay you for the job on that 1 light, then I'll send you the other side once I get another spare once I've decided if that is the look I really wanted and pay your for the work on that one as well.
