Yup, you've heard it right! And this is no BS either. I've found a company overseas that's willing to make custom clear taillights for the G2 Coupes (sedans will follow shortly depending on the interest). This time it will be different from all other attempts someones tried to get custom lenses made. I actually have sample products made and you actually have options too! That's right! Coupe owners have 3 options to choose from:

Red Bottom w/Clear Top
Red Bottom, Clear Top w/Red Surround Border
All Clear

Pricing willl be around $200 - $250 for a set of lenses (depending on the interest). I am testing waters now to see if there are enough interest to get a mass number produced. Meanwhile, the company is nice enough to produce me a few examples of their products with 3 of my specific choices I've given them. I've been doing alot of research on these tail lights and these seems to be the most popular. Since these are only examples, they are actually "first production prototypes" meaning they're all custom made. Fitment is ok, but not great. I've test fitted all of these and they seem to be ok. There are no clip-on tabs at the edges and some corners are cut a little too short (nothing a little extra silicone sealant couldn't help). Also on the clear edges, there are what looks to be clear water or plastic spot blemishes visible (see pics). They're not that noticeable once installed.

With that being said, I am selling these for $200 shipped a pair of lenses +Paypal fees. If I sell all of these and see a great number of interests, then I will ask them to actually make a mold for these to get them mass produced. Now, if a mold was to be made, then the price will have to jump up a little to cover the cost of the molds. And as some of you know, molds are very expensive to make. I will try my best to keep the price under $250 for a set if we happen to go that route. But also keep in mind that products made from molds will be as close to OEM quality as possible. You will get what you paid for.

NOTE: This is for the lenses ONLY. You will have to use your stock housings.

Holy smokes, those red/clear lenses look amazing. The all-clear, not so much. I would be curious how these hold up to weather and heat (from the lightbulbs).
I have not had a chance to fully test these out but I can assure you that they are not crap. I've compared these to the factory lenses and they are about the same in thickness. They are hard and seems pretty sturdy. The factory lenses can withstand oven temperatures up to 200 degrees so I'm guessing these should be able to come pretty close. Your light bulbs are recessed pretty far back in the housing so don't worry about them melting the lenses. Plus I don't think the light bulbs can reach near 200 degrees in heat right?

i will be interested in the red and clear where do i sign up for a set for my 2dr

Hell Yes!

I want a pair of the red/clear for my sedan. If you are able to get them made for the sedan i will definetly take a pair!

I always wanted these for my legend but didn't think it was possible to get

If there is anyway I could get all clear, I will buy a pair asap.
Actually as a matter of fact I do have one set of All Clear Prototypes left. Original buyer backed out after 3 weeks of waiting for payment. LMK if you're interested.

Here's an Update:

GOOD NEWS. I've finally heard back from my contact guy overseas. He received the tail light donors in good shape. Also he's finally located a shop that's willing to do Injection Molds. Quality will be close to factory or if not better. Now, only problem is, pricing is going to be a little bit higher just as I anticipated for Injection Molding. $250 for a set of sedans and coupes. Coupes will be red bottom, clear top (by popular demand). Sedans will be red/clear/red. For those who want all clears, I'm still trying to negotiate for that small number to be manufactured. These guys want a large enough order for them to even start the developing process. For that, I'll be placing an order of 200. 100 for sedan, and 100 for coupes. Like I mentioned before, this is not a traditional group buy. (I can't imagine how long it'll take to get all 200 payments in). If we decided to go with the injection mold process, then production time should take about 3 months.

Second option we have is going with the hand made process (like the prototypes in shown in the first post). With this process we can have more of a made-to-order fashion. Those who want all clears will get all clears. Those who want red borders on the coupes shall have theirs and so forth. Pricing for those will be $200 shipped. Only problem is .. quality is questionable. Fitment is also another concern (I would say about 95-99% good fitment). And then cracking and fading concerns. (Not to diss the prototypes in any way). I still have confidence this those. Those who already purchased the Prototypes feel free to chime in.

Also keep in mind that hand made ones can start producing it as soon as they get the GO. However, It's not going to be a 100% faster than Injection molding. It would take about 1 pair to make per day. So... 30 days = 30 pairs. So you're looking at at least a month before you can get your hands on a set. They won't ship them out til they have like at least 30- or 40 sets completed (cut the cost of shipping). The ones who ordered last will have to wait til the next batch is finished.

I know I can't start another Poll on this thread, but give me your inputs on what you'd like to see happen. Unfortunately, we can't go with both options so post your votes.

well this is good and bad news.

Whoa chill its just a font size its not like it freezes your computer or anything....
Yea but it's like yelling so I'm gonna need you to resize these to normal size.
