Yup, you've heard it right! And this is no BS either. I've found a company overseas that's willing to make custom clear taillights for the G2 Coupes (sedans will follow shortly depending on the interest). This time it will be different from all other attempts someones tried to get custom lenses made. I actually have sample products made and you actually have options too! That's right! Coupe owners have 3 options to choose from:

Red Bottom w/Clear Top
Red Bottom, Clear Top w/Red Surround Border
All Clear

Pricing willl be around $200 - $250 for a set of lenses (depending on the interest). I am testing waters now to see if there are enough interest to get a mass number produced. Meanwhile, the company is nice enough to produce me a few examples of their products with 3 of my specific choices I've given them. I've been doing alot of research on these tail lights and these seems to be the most popular. Since these are only examples, they are actually "first production prototypes" meaning they're all custom made. Fitment is ok, but not great. I've test fitted all of these and they seem to be ok. There are no clip-on tabs at the edges and some corners are cut a little too short (nothing a little extra silicone sealant couldn't help). Also on the clear edges, there are what looks to be clear water or plastic spot blemishes visible (see pics). They're not that noticeable once installed.

With that being said, I am selling these for $200 shipped a pair of lenses +Paypal fees. If I sell all of these and see a great number of interests, then I will ask them to actually make a mold for these to get them mass produced. Now, if a mold was to be made, then the price will have to jump up a little to cover the cost of the molds. And as some of you know, molds are very expensive to make. I will try my best to keep the price under $250 for a set if we happen to go that route. But also keep in mind that products made from molds will be as close to OEM quality as possible. You will get what you paid for.

NOTE: This is for the lenses ONLY. You will have to use your stock housings.

UPDATE:

Bad news I'm afraid. The mold samples for the Coupes have been made. They've decided to do both sides. After producing the red and clear lenses, they've encountered a problem that wasn't foreseen. Gluing the 2 pieces together. They've tried with a few methods but weren't successful. The glue would show up on both sides of the finished product and looks terrible. It does not look smooth at all. If applied too thinly, then they would not hold to a sturdy bond. They've tried and tried but were not successful. They've finally folded and gave up. By looking at the pics, it does look like they've made quite a few attempts. I'm also giving up on this company for wasting months of our valuable time and money and giving us false hopes.

So, with that said, it looks like we're back to square 2 for the Coupes and square 1 for the sedans. :banghead: I'm going back to the first company that produced the first prototypes shown on page 1 of this thread and work with them. It may not be factory quality, but it's better than nothing at all. I'll still stick with the original 3 options we've started out with: Red/Clear, Red/Clear w/Red border, All Clear. For the sedans, I'll try to get the same company to produce those as well in the promised Red/Clear/Red style. Please tell me if you are still interested in these prototypes and which option you choose so I can go back and update the list. If you back out, I completely understand. Please let me know either way.

I do sincerely apologize to everyone for getting your hopes up. I honestly thought that we're working with professionals and that they have the proper know-hows and equipment in the industry to get the project completed. Boy was I wrong. I would also like to thank everyone for your continued support and your patience throughout this whole process.

I'm on the fence. They look great on the white coupe. However I have a black coupe with blacked out tail lights. They look pretty sharp but I see a lot of cars with the blacked out tail lights so I was wanting something different, but for $250 a set I'm not sure. I'm going to have to sleep on this one.

Legend-101 i am still in for the clear/red with red board and the all clear one. I really dont think any one shouldnt back out of it. this is something that many want and they are very hard to get. so if i have to wait then i will wait. i want them and if you wasnt doing this then i would not even have the dream in my mind to getting them in the future. keep up the great work at the end thiis will be a great deal all the way thur. much love and support.

Yea but I'm sure that's for the whole light not just the lens. If not then that's way too steep.

Nope. Sedans are still under construction as of now. I have a Sedan sample (1 side) coming in the next couple of weeks. You're looking at least 1 month wait when they're readily available. Keep an eye on this thread as I'll update it whenever I get new news.

Update: All Coupe tail lights are now sold out. If you still want a set, then wait til the next batch arrives which should be in a couple of weeks.

By the looks of it, I'm guessing anywhere around $250 and up. The sedans are under construction right now and are near completion. I was told they are bigger, more difficult to make, and a lot heavier. Therefore, shipping cost will be up a bit too from overseas to here, and then again out to your door.
