difference between auto and manual ECU?

planning to do a jdm swap for a 5spd next year and want to use the jdm version of the ECU but only avail in auto. does anyone know the difference? did some search but no luck. any help thanks in advance.

Just use the JDM ECU and join the wires going to the shifter so it thinks it is in Drive. Won't go wrong :bigok:

thank you thats good news but what happens the other way around? just curious if anyone knows.

Automatic ECUs have a daughter board that controls the transmission; manual ECUs don't have this board. In a manual, you simply leave those connections off. If you use a manual ECU in an automatic car, there is no board to control your transmission so your car simply will not work.
