Disable Factory Alarm

Is there a way to disable the factory alarm. I'm tired of it going off when someone locks the doors manually.

Koji, i have a question about that, I told that to my mechanic asking if it were possible, and he told me that if I did it i would more than likely make the car think i was trying to break into it and it would trigger a starter disabler which would in turn obviously mess up my starter, is this true?

Yea, like everyone one said, it wont hurt anything.

As to your mechanic, he needs to understand the alarm a little better, but I don't blame him at all.

When in disarmed mode, the OEM alarm will arm itself ONLY if all the conditions are right. That would be for all zones to be closed. That would be the doors, hood, and trunk, and no one starting the car. Once it determines those conditions are met it will arm. The confusing part about his to some is that when all zones are closed, it actually means that the circuit it open. If a zone is open (One of the doors/hood/trunk is open, than the OEM alarm will not arm. Using the paper clip method as Koji nicely printed up will close the negetive loop as you can see. This will trick the OEm alarm into thinking the hood was open, and it will NEVER arm.

Now, if the OEM alarm was already in ARMED mode, than opening a zone will cause the alarm to trigger. Make sense?

As far as the hood pin and aftermarket alarm, I ran a new wire myself. What I did was keep the connector connected. Then I cut the return line to the car side. I then grounded the wire on the car side, so the OEM alarm thinks it has an open hood. On the other side leading to the hood switch, I afixed another wire and ran that all the way back to me aftermarket alarm. Now, the hood switch acts as my pin switch for the aftermarket alarm, but since I grounded the wire leading back the car side the security module thinks the hood is open and doesn't arm the OEM alarm.

Hmm.. Interesting. I'll make a note of that. My 6-speed uses the factory hood switch for the aftermarket alarm (my auto has a seperate switch). If my factory alarm starts acting up, I'll know what to do. :)
