Quick question--I have studied pretty well all the posts on using the Apine CH-634 CD changer with the standard Bose head unit, and using the 2 cables required to make it play MP3's. Also the requirement to move the switch to the proper position. I just ordered the 2 cables from Crutchfield after the changer via eBay.

The Crutchfield salesman said he wanted to check to see if this would work, and came back to say they show it does work for 92-95 but that they don't show it to be for 1991. He said it was probably something that just slipped by them and would probably work, that I could return the cables if it did not work. I said it has to work, how could it not, from what I know the Bose systems in the 91's are the same as whats in the later years. Maybe I am wrong though.

Can anyone please confirm that this setup does indeed work in a 1991 LS coupe with the standard Bose head unit? I just can't believe it will not work, I mean these Bose units have to be the same thing from 1991 to 1995. I think maybe Crutchfield just missed the year in their database when they set it up. That's what the rep said probably happened. I want to be able to use MP3's but if it doesn't work, I guess I then just drop back to an Alpine 630 unit and forego the MP3's for just the 6 regular discs. I mean that has to work does it not?

Anyway, this Crutchfield guy just threw some scrambled eggs at my brain that I am having a hard time swallowing. Any help here is appreciated.

Yes it will work. You'll need a Acura-Alpine adapter. There is a DIY on this .... Use the SEARCH function.

Thanks for the response. I have searched and done all the necessary homework prior to purchasing. What threw me was the Crutchfield sales rep telling me he had no record of this working for the 1991 year. Yes, he said it shows in his data that it works for 1992-1995 (or later), but he had nothing showing the 1991 year. By the way I have an LS with the 2100 Bose system.

Anyway, thats why I posted. Believe me I have searched and read most of the threads on these changers at least a couple of times each, learning what it would take to make it work. I think the guy at Crutchfield just doesn't know what he is talking about. Thanks again, all I was looking for was some feedback to confirm my thoughts that he is doesn't know it will work.

It will work. The Crutchfield salesman is simply going off the computer database. For some reason, I find that a lot of companies have the Legend years a little off. For example, they sometimes or often even list the G1 Legend as 86-91, and the G2 as 92+. That probably confuses a lot of salesman around the industry who are not familiar with the Legend.

ChrisK, I appreciate your feedback, I was hoping I might get some confirmation and that you might chime in and not take this as another question on the subject from someone that had not done much research first. I read most of the posts you made regarding this and felt that everything you said was spot on. Its one of the reasons I tried to tell the Crutchfield guy he was wrong on this. Thanks again, I have all the components on the way and will have an install by next weekend.

Just finished on the Alpine Cha-S634 CD Changer install. Yes, this works on a 1991 and the Crutchfield guy was wrong. I might call them and tell them to update their database. All the info contained in this forum was all you need to complete the install. Thanks to all that explained and contributed to those posts. This is without a doubt the easiest installation ever...truly Plug n Play. Have not yet burned MP3's onto disk, but I know they should work. Anyone wishing to install this just needs to do a search using the word 'alpine'. All the knowledge is then opened.
