So started on the Rack and Pinion. What a fun chore.

So had all the pics going on, for a DIY and all was going good, got the old one out
cleaned up the underside of car cause it was nasty

then proceeded to put in the new rack....

well that was a bitch

been working on it for about 2 hours when BAM

its already ligned up on the drive spline and up there good

for the 2nd time

WHEN A BOLT BREAKS OFF IN ONE OF THE HYDROLIC lines that attaches to the steering gear box !

so the garage is half open, im sitting here sad, about to cry, and dont know what to do
and I needed to vent

Just relax and don't work on it till you've cooled off a bit. Like Alp stated you could probabbly use the bolt or line(what ever part needed) from the old one. If it's a line then just clean the line out(including inside) and swap. If it's a bolt just use a bolt extractor that you can usually get at any hardware store or autopart store. What ever you do just be careful and patient. Take pics and post, maybe we could help you out better that way.

Okay

so I was having a really bad night
i probably shouldn't have posted this but owell

Finally got the rack in and am going to try and get a DIY made soon

but bad news is my car squeeks still and I have no clue what it could be

1) only happens when turning steering wheel
2) only squeeks when car is on ground; when jacked up and turning the wheels it doesnt make the noise

Anybody ?

Does anyone know if my steering wheel can be straightened when i take my car in for an alignment ?

You should have someone turn the wheel while you search for the squeeky sound. Hope you find the problem.

I hear it whenver I turn the wheels and pull down my drive way

it doesnt squeak when I am going down the highway or down the road

so its not on the Y axis of movement

grrrr

It happened after I hit a speed bump
it makes me sad

And I figured after new shocks/springs and my leaking rack and pinion
it would quit

but guess i was wrong
