its the aftermarket cat that is making it smell like that
NO WAY. ITS NEW
no im not joking...

i've smelled cars with aftermarket cats and some of them have this smell.

but it can also be caused by bad egr valve or bad oxygen sensors....

did you have the smell before you replaced the cats?

the rotten egg smell is sulfur.

yes i did have the smell.all change the mufler and the cat do to loss of power and the egg smell.but its still the same
Sounds like you are running a little rich... Is your air filter in good shape? Have a fuel pressure test done. I had a similar problem and it ended up being the fuel pressure regulator. The diaphram broke and the vaccum line was sucking in gas causing it to run rich. A bad O2, map, and coolant temp sensor could cause this. BTW a sensor that is not completly shorted or giving out of range data will NOT turn on the check engine light. A sensor could be bad and not turn on the CEL.

1st. Check Air filter.

2nd. Replace coolant temp sensor. It only costs $35.00 from autozone. Very simple job. This sensor is a thermoresistor that after so many times of getting hot and cooling down it starts to loose it ability to change its resistance value based on temp. Just replace it.

3rd. Have a fuel pressure test done. If that passes the move on.

4th. Take it to a shop that knows Hondas. They will have diagnostic equipment that could look at these sensors and compare the readings to spec to make sure they are functioning.

Everytime i ever smell eggs, its the cat, did they put the correct gasket when they replaced the cat, they gave me one that didnt fit, they didnt have any for legends at Walts, well anyways there was a leak, it sounds almost like a vaccum cleaner.. Thats probably not it, maybe hole in the cat? But you would hear that..

fyi the coolant temp sensor is actually cheaper at your local acura dealer..

Maybe yours, but at Tim Smith Acura in Ft walton Beach FL it is around $50.00. Autozone was the cheapest I could find.

If you bought one for cheaper than $35.00 then you got a pretty good deal.
[email protected]! You must be nuts! Nothing at an Acura Dealer is cheaper than just buying it from Schucks, Auto Zone, Napa, or something like that.. Acura dealers overcharge everything they tryed making me pay $80 just to get my code for my bose stock stereo deck, when i took the serial # out myself.. IDK, i dont like em..

and why do you think people buy OEM quality stuff at their dealer... oh mang i gave it away... quality... shucks... sorry if i let you in on a little secret.

first line... any questions?

I've known this for quite a long time acutally.. Where i live they over charge and there is no reason to even go there, because i know they will give me some bogus quote.. Like this other time they asked $30 to make a key, and they told me they had to call a canada broker to get the pin offsets.. When i just went to Home Depot and payed $1.. haha, look @ your recipe, did you pay $6 for a quality key?! Also $16 isnt such a hot deal for an oil filter.. HAHA I just dont like the dealers, you can get the same quality parts at schucks or any place like that..
well if you do a search you'll find out that the NSX filter made by toyo roki in japan is one of the best filters... beats fram and purolator and all that bull
and no its not the same as the ones made in the us because the US ones IIRC are made by honeywell

i'll gladly pay $30 dollars for that filter knowing that i have peace of mind that its filtering the oil better than anything else.

people would love to pay 16 dollars knowing that my dealer still stocks NSX toyo roki filters

and the reason why i paid 6 dollars for the key is because i would like a key that has an acura logo on it... sure it might not matter to you but it does for me.

why do you think people are still paying for oem bose speakers when they can just get aftermarket?

btw why are you getting off track about they other things on my invoice...

i was just trying to show that i got the sensor from the dealer for $33 sorry for it not being a big enough difference for you.

Delray Acura
http://www.acuraoemparts.com sells that part for $26

tell me which would you rather get... oem or aftermarket for the same price when the oem one is better quality?

I've gone through 2 aftermarket ECT sensors already so you tell me?

ya i paid 5 bucks for a fresh key. the ones at Home Depot wernt working to well cause the key was copied sooo many times for old copies that were made from copies. i needed somthing that i know would be exactly for my car. i think it was worth the 5 bucks i paid for it, and i like the OEM key better than all copy keys. the OEM key had a bigger area to turn it with your thumb when starting it.
True, true, you both bring valid points, but with my experience I always get aftermarket for cheap... I try to find the cheapest product with the best quality.. If OEM was the same price as aftermarket of course i would run all OEM parts because they are authentic stock replacements. The bose speaker is just a dumb question, I would DEFINITELY go with aftermarket speakers over the stock BOSE ones, there cones are weak and the front door speakers can let moisture and ruin the cone.. They are alright for factory speakers but id rather go with some Infinity, JBL, Sony, or any quality aftermarket brand..

P.s. Any OEM parts at Acura Of Lynnwood (WA) is close to double the price i pay for aftermarket parts.. Now answer me this... Would you pay double for OEM rather than after market? Some would, Some wouldn't, it all depends if you have money bustin out your socks..

bad egr valve.how do i find out if its bad.do i change it.and oxygen sensors.ohh and last what is sulfur
sulfur is an element.... and unless you have the check engine light on then it shouldnt be the egr valve or the o2 sensors.

no my check engine does not light up.but wont a bad 02 sensor the check engine come on.i do use 93 oct gas
Is there anything leaking? I know differential oil has a nasty smell, and not many people check the differential fluid levels (which may be low if it is leaking).

If it's that bad, and you don't smell it in the engine compartment, you may want to check your blower fan and clean the fan blades. I dropped the fan motor from behind the glove box, and cleaned the blades with Q-tips soaked in brakecleen. There was a lot of crap on those blades...

Then, change the cabin air filter. You have to go to the dealer for this one, as Advance Auto and the other aftermarket places don't sell them. It's bascially a cardboard piece with carbon black sprayed on it.
that egg smell is due to sulfur... which has to do with the exhaust system...
