Sounds like you are running a little rich... Is your air filter in good shape? Have a fuel pressure test done. I had a similar problem and it ended up being the fuel pressure regulator. The diaphram broke and the vaccum line was sucking in gas causing it to run rich. A bad O2, map, and coolant temp sensor could cause this. BTW a sensor that is not completly shorted or giving out of range data will NOT turn on the check engine light. A sensor could be bad and not turn on the CEL.
st. Check Air filter.
nd. Replace coolant temp sensor. It only costs $35.00 from autozone. Very simple job. This sensor is a thermoresistor that after so many times of getting hot and cooling down it starts to loose it ability to change its resistance value based on temp. Just replace it.
rd. Have a fuel pressure test done. If that passes the move on.
th. Take it to a shop that knows Hondas. They will have diagnostic equipment that could look at these sensors and compare the readings to spec to make sure they are functioning.
