Are you talking B20 as in the inline 4 B18/B20 from the late 60's Volvos????
From previous posts along similar lines to this,Hurleysurf24 said:has anyone ever thought of doing an engine swap? (i know its sad to think of cause the type2 is an amazing engine) but like something along the lines of a b20?
it has a ton of aftermarket support but just isnt the same :*( but its a thought. anyone have ideas for a swap ? thanks
First offsAnE said:theb-20 he is referrin to is in the integra type-r 200hp nd like 187 lbs of torque.. its nbot a good idea that enigne sis probally gonna run you about 6-8,000 just for the engine let a lone trans and then custommotro mounts cstom front axles.... is too much a project... if you have that money throw it on a type 2 supercharger or turbo.. it is possilbe... ask dv8 or lon if your serious... cuz i am lol...jon.
in addition to what DV8 said, this is not your best solution...please remember that the CL-S 6 speed is still new, so of course no failure data has been released yet....trust me on this one...I work on Failure Rate Analysis for my entire company, so I can pretty much speak from experience here. You won't hear any widespread problems unitl the product has been in the end user's hands for a minute, or the OEM says they must recall the item in question for a mech/elec flaw.Hurleysurf24 said:true that they have tranny problems but the six speed type s motor which i previously listed doesnt seem to have any problems ... at least for the time being.
i was thinking about getting the type s teamed with the 6 speed thats in the acura now... i mean the tl type s engine is basically just an upgraded legend engine with vtec
do you think this engine swap would be advisable (good aftermarket support allready for these engines) or should i just duke it out and try to find a low mileage type 2 motor?
aso te one for 2395 is fresh
The engines are the same, its everything else that is different.jose3030 said:Are Type II 6m and automatic engines DIFFERENT?
Like if my 6speed engine blew out, would I have to find ANOTHER 6speed out there in a junker to replace it?
Or just any engine?

I didn't read all the post so I'm not sure if anyone covered it, but the new engine in the 2001 CL/CL-S and the 99+ TL/TL-S is NOT even close to the Legend 3.2 engine. For one, it is based on the J series engine found on the 3.0 98+ Accord. It is a totally differernt design, and it sits transmounted not longitudinal like the Legend. While anything is posible, like putting the Small block V8 in the Miata, putting a J32 3.2 CL-S engine in place of the C32A1 Legend engine will be a totally custom job.Hurleysurf24 said:i was thinking about getting the type s teamed with the 6 speed thats in the acura now... i mean the tl type s engine is basically just an upgraded legend engine with vtec
