i would imagine it'll cost you around 3-5k for the engine and labor.

Someone PLEASE tell me that labor isn't gonna cost me that much money. I'm thinking about doing the hybrid thing and I think I can get a TypeII engine for about 800 bucks. But if labor is gonna run over 2k, forget about it. Does anyone have any concrete numbers on this?

Labor will run you hundreds not thousands.
Keep in mind that the weakest link in your system, will kill it..so your engine and tranny need to be on the up and up...my labor was like 600-800...I gotta look it up...but that is tranny, motor, mounts, timing belts etc

Here is a better solution

Why would you want to go through all the hassle and money swapping out the T1 engine for a T2 when you can just modify your T1 engine to be even more powerful than a T2 for WAY less money???

And what does that involve? How much money? What parts?

Because people who do this swap aren't just gonna change the motor and leave the rest stock. Fact is, there are hardly any parts out there to seriously boost the power of the Legend engine. Therefore, we just see the engine swap as a mod to gain 30HP. Other than nitrous, there is no other way to gain 30HP for 1500-2000 bucks. Maybe when the headers come out there will be, but not right now.
