Engine vibration at idle driving me crazy, please help?

Hello again folks, I have recently found time to work on my 1991 Sterling 827 again, she's clean and has relatively low miles, and was an ebay purchase I did a couple years ago but have only driven maybe 100 miles since.

Ever since it arrived, it has driven awesome, but it has a engine vibration at idle that I can't seem to iron out. hoping someone could shed some light as to where to start.

It happens more when car has warmed up, not to the point where it is maddening. but with doors open, you can see the doors bounce up and down somewhat and feel the vibes in the car at idle. Upon revving slowly, it seems to stumble lightly for the next 200 or so rpm, and then iron itself out at higher revs.

I have changed plugs (ngk), wires (ngk blues), fuel filter, air filter and all standard tune up stuff. The only code I get is a very rare and infrequent code for EGR valve. The valve was changed but still, every dozen or so drives, the code pops up.

Any ideas on where to look next? I remember my first Stering being butter smooth at idle, to where one would be forgiven for thinking the car was off.

I've used the search feature on several sites to no real avail. Thanks for the help!!

Sounds like it might be the EGR solenoid in the vacuum box (do you have the vacuum box?).
If you can feel the same vibrations on the roof of the car, check your motor mounts.
Thanks for the replies!

By vacuum box, do you mean the rectangularish black plastic box near the drivers side firewall which has all the vacuum lines running to it? If so, yes, I do have that. I'm 99% sure that all engine and related components are identical to the legend, aside from the blasted ybe10026 speed transducer that was only used in that car for half a year and is damn near impossible to find (took me several months and $240 to get it, I accidentally destroyed it by filling it up with water when washing my engine... even though I went out of my way to cover all electronics)

I have never opened that box up. Is the solenoid inside?

Also, thanks for the heads up on the motor mounts... I have moticed the engine buck back just a tad when revving, is this normal? By a tad, I mean a couple degrees between idle and 1500 rpm.

Hoping that motor mounts are identical if that is the culprit!

Any easy ways to test the mounts without removing them?
come to think of it, I have some behicle vibrations at about 60mph, new tires, balance, etc, did not solve. cv axles are new according to previous owner. Could the motor/trans mounts be causing the driveline vibes? I feel the vibes in my seat more than anywhere else.

cheers!

There are many YouTube videos on motor mounts that can explain this better than me. Check them put. Good luck.
Yes, there's a solenoid in there for the EGR system. Likely one of the solenoid is dead. You can probably follow the hose that goes to the EGR to the solenoid in the vacuum box. Once you find it, check to see if it powers up. If you don't hear any clicking, solenoid is fried.
