The more I read this thread, especially the options on SirCharlesworth's car  , the more I realize that we, as the american market, GOT SCREWED.

I think basically he have gone ga ga over the base models dumped in the US. What we have is not a real GS.

This is the real GS - Side markers, air filtration, bumper pole  (I'm not exactly sure what that is), NAVI, remote radio, remote anything, tilt moon roof, etc...

Next, somebody from France is going to send us a pic of a Legend with dual tailpipes, 17" rims, heads up display, load leveling in a pearl white with creamy connolly leather interior.

Don't worry chaps, you didn't just get done over with the legend, your bmw's are the same! I have an m3 evolution convertible - euro spec is 321bhp with a 6 speed manual or semi auto.

you guys got a watered down 240 bhp version if i remember rightly! 5 speed auto or manual! guess they just think they can get away with it!

i think we should contact some importers and set up some kind of group buy on these OEM options available to other markets of the Legend. I mainly want the rear power/heated seats and the power headrest and the bezel for the top navi (not the navi) and also the vents in the lower wood console.. The Air Filtration Unit sticks out like a sore thumb in my opinion but would be a cool feature. of course i'd also like the one piece headlights but those are already available.

SirCharles.. can't wait to see those pics of all your options! Your car looks GREAT!!!

P.S. i also want folding mirrors  but not sure if they made them for the ka8

ehhh actually...aside from the toys, the Legend in the US was the best one out. well in 94-95 atleast...in most countries the Legend came as ONLY automatic. like a JDM car only came as automatic, and at the top of the heap there was only a 5spd available in the European countries from what i've read/seen/heard.

the US is the only one with the car set for real performance and we are the only country that got the 6spd, and the best looking set of headlamps. the EDMs are the best performing though for our type of roads.

the USDM Legend is one of the only US imported cars that actually got better when it crossed into the US.

oh and some less than note worthy options were the...

integrated Cellphone which not many people still have. and a trunk net. from what i remember.

The ski sleeve, dont forget the ski sleeve. My manual talks about a ski sleeve on the Canadian models, but I would use it to haul those stupid bed rails I have taking up space in my living room.

Well, that eases my pain a bit. But why not fill our cars with the nifty options. American's love options. That's why we invented "trim levels".

I was also more interested in noting the options that were not available in the US since most of the members are US based that are uninformed (like myself) about ALL the options that most of us would like to have. The two tone SE is rare, but in my opinion, not that great. I do realize that i named this thread "every option......" If i put the SE stuff and the cell phone, then i would have to add things like digital climate control, power/heated seats, cd changer, sunroof visor, etc...

Its up to you guys though, this thread isn't about only my interests.. i can document/photograph all those options and post them, but like most of you know, its nothing new to 95% of us.

i put that in the first post when i created this thread. i put ski box. i'll add the word sleeve to it to clear anything up.

actually, out of interest, did you guys get the external temp gauge in the us spec cars. Along with digital trip counters?

I know the uk spec model had an analog trip counter and odometer.

JDM models have digital trip (a) and (b) and external temp reading in the little status monitor in the middle of the instruments.

Also forgot to add my legend has dimmable courtessey lights too- the lights in front and rear footwells come on with the headlights and this is dimmable.

And I don't think i mentioned the car has automatic headlights- they come on sidelights as it gets dark, then onto dipped beam once its a bit darker.

There is also electronic adjustment for tilt and reach on the steering wheel... dont know if you guys got that. You put the key in and the wheel moves to position- stored with the seat memories.

This happens when the doors are opened and then closed. When I open a door the interior lights come on (all of them) and when I get in or out and close the door, the wheel well lights go off slowly. A nice dimming feature

In addition to the LS, GS and I am sure the SE, my L has this also - I love it, none of my friends have this and except one dude with a Caddy Escalade.

I would love to have the automatic exterior lights

No the LS as the lights he is talking about, they are always on if the exterior lights are and they have a dimmer on the pannel where traction control button and fog lights are

I have the lights that come on with the door open/close and then dim off - is that different then what he is talking about?

If so - then do you mean that when he turns on the headlights, there is a light on by his feet? That seems a bit annoying and distracting.

All legend has the light you are talking about, LS has the lights he is talking about, they are actually nice imo, but you also if they do annoy or distract you, you can turn the dimmer nob all the way low and it turns them off (or maybe just dims them so low they can't even show any light)

shaylord is right, those are the ones i'm talking about.... I'm gonna have to take some photos for you guys though cos it seems there are so many differences.

Buttons on my legend- the three on the left side of the instrument cluster are select, reset, and rear demist. on the right are tilt, slide, and close (sunroof), and the four by the key are tcs, front fog, cruise on, and cruise off. The dimmer switches are on the opposite side.

I noticed another difference too.... lhd cars have a hand operated handbrake. rhd have a third pedal like the big mercs etc.
