Extra plug / no where to connect???

1962 Views 19 Replies 6 Participants Last post by  okbowtie
I am new to Legends and i have been chasing the problems around on this one, After fixing the coolant sensor issue, I thought i had everything fixed, BUT a short test drive and bingo the check engine light came back on. I pulled the codes, 53 and 23, which appear to be both knock sensors. Looking over the engine I found a plug on the top left rear of the engine that was unplugged and i can't find anywhere to plug it in. It appears to be in the area that the knock sensors wiring come out from under the intake, but i can't find the other end. Anyone know what i am talking about, i believe that someone left the knock sensors unplugged and i can't find where to connect them.

Everything plugs to the main engine harness so you should be able to find it that way. On the back of the engine (firewall side) I can only think of one plug on the drivers side, next to the bracket you use to lift the engine out and on the passenger side there are two plugs by the EGR valve.
a picture of said connector would help.
pictures in work, This plug is from the main engine harness on the drivers side, rear of motor. I can't find what it plugs into.
Check your o2 on that side.
O2's both connected, their wires run down along the side of the block and connect in the front.
Ok i will do, it seems the pictures have minds on their own, can't get a good copy on my computer, but will keep trying.
Here is a picture of the engine from the rear, the only connector on the drivers side in the rear is the one that goes to the knock sensors (just behind the brake booster vacuum line).

thats the plug, now to find the other end on my motor, guess intake has to come off. :p
Your in for some fun. Lol. Might as well do the head gaskets

If he's only pulling the intake to get to the knock sensor harness there is no reason to go that far.

As long as you have it off you should clean out the EGR port on the intake, the EGR pipe, etc....

If youve ever done a rebuild the intake is the most tedious part. Everything after that is cake

Well, let's see. I had the intake off twice on my 3.2L before doing the 3.5 Swap. I have now had an intake off the 3.5L twice.

In no way is the intake a hassle to pull. As a matter of fact, it's probably one of the easiest pulls on these cars.

Now, the heads, exhaust, etc... is a different story.

And yes I've had the heads of a 3.2L and I would rather just do the intake than a full head job any day.
I guess man. You know what I meant then. Depends on the owner and the condition of the car/free time.

Pull the throttle body, 10 bolts, 4 nuts, and it comes right off. I just installed the intake on my 3.5 today prepping to put the engine in the car.

I have pulled the heads on the 3.2 as well and I did the cam seals on the 3.5.

If I could just pull the intake and be done with it, I would be a lot happier.
I have a question. I believeone of the two hoses that connect to my water pump are leaking. Where would I find the hoses. Autozone doesn't have it

Does anyone have the wiring pigtail that goes to the knock Sensors from the before mentioned plug at the back of the intake?
I'd like to have one handy BEFORE i pull the intake and find that there is not one there....UGH :(
