4 weeks ago my factory fogs took a dive. Long story short the main relay was the cause. Ok here's the deal, The mechanic advised that I splice in a new main relay connector from a new kit that I have on hand but I declined. Fast forward, the fogs are on the blink again but with a different twist. This time the fog light switch green on indicator illuminates so I'm thinking the main relay may not be the problem this time. Any thoughts? And no the bulbs are not the problem. What I'd really like is to replace the harness with a new one vs splicing in a new connector. It seems such a waste to break up a full kit. I'm glad I held on to an extra fog light kit or two or humm... three.

I had a similar problem and the relay for the fog lights kicked the bucket.
I replaced the main fog light relay four weeks ago and sure thing it was all good in fog light land once again. The fog light switch came back to life (the night light and the green light indicator) and the fogs shined bright. Weeks later the fog light switch is in good working order but the fogs have gone dark. All day Monday I had fogs. Tuesday morning, fogs worked fine. Then Tuesday afternoon nothing. For that reason I feel the problem my not be just the the main fog light relay this time. I hope to have the problem scoped out by this weekend.

Ok they're two relays!

Relay One (large) - Headlight Relay - It's the one I replaced four weeks ago.

Relay Two (small) - Fog Light Relay - Replacement is on deck this weekend.

Hope this solves the problem. If not it's time to install a new harness.

How are the connections themselves? Sounds like that could be a possible culprit with intermittent operation...but that wouldn't explain the lights working when you replaced the fog light relay. I'm trying to think of all the possibilities.
Connections are fine.

my advice would be to try replacing the fog light relay again...and then if that doesn't work...replace the headlight relay...and if that works, then splice in the new relay like your mechanic suggested.

are these factory fogs? do you have any loose connections in the system?? maybe some corrosion blowing the relays...
Will test the relays and check for corrosion, thanks!
