The fan on my engine keeps running even after the car has been off for sometime, this just started. Any ideas as how to stop this(fix it) I have taken the fuse out to stop it over night so as not to run down the battery.

the fan will automatically turn off after the coolant and engine has dropped to certain temperature. The fans run to prevent over heat while the engine is off and helps to prevent blown head gasket. Don't worry about it... If you don't feel like seeing it often, consider flushing your coolant and adding redline water wetter to improve engine cooling.

I understand it runs to cool the enigne after you turn the car off, but it was running for hours afterwards & it is below zero here still.

Your temperature sending unit on the radiator is bad (lower passenger side of the radiator). It is sending a contact signal (greater ohms) to the relay which is running the fans.
