I've heard that you can make flames shoot out of your exhaust pipe in your car by drilling a hole and putting a spark plug a few inches from the end. Then, by connecting it to the battery and a switch, you could make a sort of flamethrower. I would just like to know if this is a buncha baloney or not, without having to actually go out and ruin an exhaust to find out.

Its an old hot rod trick. Works on carburated cars, but its pretty ineffective on fuel injected vehicles. With carburated cars, you pull the choke to run the car rich or turn the engine off for a second. With FI cars, its not as easy to instantaneously run the car rich.

I have gotten flames out of my exhaust on several occasions ever since I installed my opened up exhaust system.

I personally havn't seen it but my friends driving behind me on the highway were amazed by it.

It doesn't seem to do it much anymore since I got the chip upgrade (I guess it was running really rich before).

I mean call me a party pooper but I don't like the idea of flames anywhere around my car... and just think if that kit went off the handle and like caught your bumper on fire or something... Just seems a lil ricey to me...

:p
I believe the word you're looking for here is STUPID!

There's a reason it WAS a big thing with Hot Rods... because they're old.
