I had the same problem as you. I was able to loosen up the box somewhat to displace it a little and I removed the strut bar, which helped. As far as accessing the bolt, I had to use a regular wrench and loosened it bit by bit. The only problem was that I couldn't torque it back to spec. But it's been like this for half a year now and I haven't had any problems with bolts coming loose as some other people have reported.

Yeah, that's all that I've been able to do too. I have this irritating, though occassional rattling that I'm trying to pin-point. The nut seems tight though. Hmmm...

There is apparent wear on the inside "fender" that looks like is caused by hitting the hood strut bolts on the hood. I tried hammering those high spots down, but I'll have to test it on a stretch of Atlantic Blvd. in Alhambra that always causes the rattling.
