I was planning to just sell the GCs and replace them with Eibachs (b/c I'm getting old and I'm starting to value comfort over performance), but since I can't seem to get the sleeves for the GCs off the barrels of the konis, I'll have to sell them as a complete set.

They have been together in my car for just over 2 years and in that time I've logged about 60,000kms or about 40,000 miles. Both function perfectly.

My mechanic and I couldn't get them apart, but we also didn't want to try anything drastic, for fear of damaging something. Because of this, I had to put the complete set back in my car so I could drive it in the meantime, so I don't have any pics at the moment.

$500 for the complete set. PM me if interested.

Thanks,
Dave
P.S. I am working on getting another set of Konis and might need a bit of lead time to get them here and installed with the Eibachs, so my current suspension can be pulled and shipped. Should only cause a minor delay, if any.

New, the shocks would cost $350us plus shipping and the struts would cost $550us plus shipping (See Ebay). Thats $900us plus almost $100 in shipping!

I'm selling this set for about 1/2 price @ $500us. The only thing wrong with them is I can't get the springs off the shocks, so they're stuck together as a set, but they work perfect!

Shaar,
I think if the portion of the koni barrels that have the threaded sleeves attached to them were soaked in some type of penetrating oil for a few days, they might loosen up and come apart. I can't imagine the two have permanently fused.

My main problem is that I didn't have the time to leave the struts off my car b/c I need the car on the road for work, school, etc. I also didn't want to force anything or cause damage b/c again I'd be stuck without a car.

Whoever buys this set could soak them for a while and see if they could be separated - I'm sure that with a little time and ingenuity, it could get done.

mouthbubbles,

Yes. They are still for sale.
Sorry for the late reply. I was out of town and had no internet access.

PM me and we can work out the details.
Thanks,

I traded up recently from a 1990 Honda Accord 5 speed to a 1994 Legend Sedan Automatic and the entire thing feels slushy and I'm tired of knocking the bumpstops every time I go over speedbumps. The car also pushes a lot more than the Accord.

This seems like a good deal.

However, I don't know anything about the Honda aftermarket. Is this a good combination? What factors are adjustable? Does anyone make more sporty shocks than this? Do you know of anyone that makes polyurethane bushings for the Legend? Will this make the car more neutral, because right now it feels very heavy and understeers far too much.

Koni sport kit uses the same shocks as the koni reds I'm selling. The GCs are also sportier than the sport kit offering.

The shocks offer rebound adjustment (must be removed from the car to adjust) and they also offer perch height adjustment (again must be removed from the car). The Ground Control coilovers also allow for height adjustment, with the added benefit of being able to adjust height *without* removing from the car! (just jack the car and adjust).

PM me if interested!

Thanks,
Dave

On koni's website they make a distinction between the yellow and the red, but they do look almost the same. Are you sure they are the same?

Were the koni reds easy to adjust any oscillations out of the suspension? Sounds like you would have to put them on and take them off multiple times.

Oh, and to answer questions:

Moist - It does provide amazing handling, but the ride is pretty firm - not harsh though. My main problem is that I just started a new job with a major shopping mall developer here in Toronto. I'll be doing alot of driving throughout the province because I'm starting in the leasing department. So, I dicided it was time to go to a slightly softer ride for those long drives. I do miss the performance though :(

smappyu: The main difference between red and yellow is that yellows allow for stiffness adjustment while on the car, where as the reds have to be removed to be adjusted.
When the koni sport kit came out, they made the kits with koni yellow struts/shocks, but since there is no yellow application for the Legend, they simply repackaged the koni reds (painted yellow) in the kit.

Edit: smappyu - about getting the right settings for the springs... I've stiffened up the front struts a bit, but left the rears to full soft. If I were you, I'd ask around to others on the forums about their opinions on the best stiffness settings for the reds when paired with GCs.
