Turbo for our cars?!

He doesn't know it yet, but Matt Whelan has convienced me to get a Legend. I don't have one yet, but by the end of December I should be a proud owner of a 1993 Type II LS Couple. I am a speed demon and was wondering if there is a turbo available for the car or if anyone has ever had one custom made? If not, could anyone suggest a place to get one made? Let me know and thankx in advance. Carson.

There has only been one G2 Legend that has a turbo. That would be Gary D's TT Legend. It was never completed. Haven't heard from him in a bit so I am guessing he either abandoned the project or is still working out the major problems.

BTW welcome to the forums

That is incorrect. There was a turboed Legend here in Md. Just couldn't keep a tranny in it. Then the shop folded (to many projects I guess).

Take a quick gander underneath the hood and find me the copious amounts of space a turbo setup would need. ;)
Awesome Carson. I'm so glad you are getting a Legend. Buy Platinum Legend 92's 95 6-speed. I've driven it. Its so nice.
is there a supercharger for our cars??

Not Yet.
turbo

That car is crazy!!!!!!!!!!!!:eek2: :eek2:
I found some info, not sure if anyone knew this or not, but there's a company out in Arizona that will make and install turbo kits on our cars for aprox. $4-5K for any year Legend. Also, that would be the turn key price. That's a lot of money, but a turbo on top of 200+horsepower already, would be totally awesome! Here the link http://www.forcedairtech.com/89-ACURA-LEGEND.html What do you guys think? Carson
hey dave what shop was it that folded. i dont remember a Legend turbo out here. i'd love more information
Honestly, IMHO I think we need superchargers over turbos. We have pretty good high end, but we need a little more low end to get our boat asses moving.....

I completely agree with that.

As far as space restraints go a supercharger is much easier than a turbo and we have room for a supercharger. Remove the battery and intake and you got a good 8" of space from the front of the engine to the radiator.

Relocate a few connectors and wire harnesses and there is quite a bit of room under the Legend hood.
same goes for turbos...all it is really is space management. there's "copious" amounts of room if you look. intellegent routing and determination...

LEST WE FORGET Schurppt (sorry if i mispelled) Impossible to do Longtube Headers. dont knock it until you try it.

wait no keep knocking it...then i could be the first Frequent of this board to own a Steet Driven Twin Turbo Acura Legend. LOL infinate Bragging right and OoH-COLD-BUST-YOU-OUTs.(haven't heard "bust you out" since like 3rd grade LOL)

Also i dont know why people wont listen...the supercharger being made for our car (by the venerable Leon) is NOT- I REPEAT- NOT a Lysholm (screw) OR ROOTS (oem jaguar Eaton) type super charger. the Super charger being devolped for our cars is the kind Like Vortech uses on the B series Engines. NO substantial Lowend increase. One MORE TIME NO SUBSTANTIAL INCREASE. two TD04's from a 3000GT VR4 will give tight LOW end and Awsome high end on our cars. PLUS the have Built in Wastegates This cuts down Plumbing needed for external wastegate. if the turbo is the right size, it will react faster than a supercharger. I.E the SUPEr MINIATURE turbo on VW's 1.8T having amazing low end.

Thats the Last time i say that because appearently no one is Listening.

I'm listening,
I don't think that a turbo would increse low end power because it wouldn't be able to spool up without the high exhaust speeds at higher rpm. If leon can figure out the piping and where to put the supercharger then you can always use a different supercharger in its place, right? You would have to reprogram the ecu compared to the other supercharger, but I think the main problem is just finding the space and spending the money. I'd have to agree on the supercharger being a better way.
Oh GOD, where is the "shoot me in the head" smilie???
I can't believe this topic won't die!!!
Dude, u wanna haul a55?? Get NOS. You want everyday power?? Start donating money to the guys that are actually developing a SC, and stop whining about low-end torque. You guys act like it can be debated the same as what to do with a car that can be easily modded.
If a SC is available, u guys better start slobbin' some knob!!!

BTW, I have once again revisited the idea of getting a car that can be modded. I might buy my Mom's CRV!! HAHA!! You can get anything you want for that crapper!!!! Turbos, S'chargers.....OH MY!!! In abundance!!!

Seriously guys, if u want power, put ur money where ur mouth is and start donating to the guys that are doing something other than deliberating on theories.

If I can find a machinist, I'm going to pay to have 1 manifold made from scratch. The exhaust would collect from the passenger side exhaust manifold. Then the manifold would collect into the turbo partially down the side of the engine, near the oil pan. The turbo piping would run forward, the upwards into the throttle body. With an aftermarket radiator at about half the width of the factory, there should be enough room for a BOV and filter. Not sure about an intercooler though, that's gonna be a lot of piping to boost. We'll see if I can find a machine shop first, mmmmmkay?
If you're gonna do that to Turbo it you could always imitate a WRX and put the intercooler about the engine and make a custom hood.:giggle: I'll kiss your feet and let you sleep with my g/f if you get it done:giggle: :giggle: :giggle:
