Okay, this subject has been briefly touched on about engines.

Can the G1 3.2TL Auto trans. be swapped to G2 Legend TypeI?

The reason for thie is that perhaps the TL is geared differently that us G2 Legends can take advantage of. Especially the nice gated shifter set-up.

This may sound terrible to you guys with manual trans, but does the TL's trans have better programming that improves shifting for performance over the G2's trans?

i actually have no idea whether this can be done...but sounds like a good idea. our G2 transmissions shift pretty hard, especially from 1st to 2nd, and sometimes i just don't feel like i'm driving a luxury car. now i don't know if they fixed that when the TL came out, maybe they did, if they did i would consider it if it was possible.

The TL transmissions dont last. If youre having a problem with your tranny, look into buying a used or rebuilt one. Leg transmissions do shift hard from 1-2, but i like it. Gives it a powerful feel, ya know?

Are TL motors mounted the same way as ours? Front to back or side to side? I know the 2nd gen TL's are side to side, definately won't work.

G1 TL

My mom has a 96 TL 3.2 (G1 TL)...

The motor is the same as a Type 1 Legend with TCS added on. The direction on the motor and the mounting of the tranny should be the same or very close to the same.

The shifting of the car is very lururious and low key, not faster and agressive like a Legend tranny. Here is her motor without the cover look familiar?

I had an ex that has a G1 3.2TL and it is not anywhere near as fast as a Type I in the G2 Legend. I expected it to catapualt me like the *first* Legend I drove did, but nope, no dice. (at the time (96) I thought it was the LEgend replacement. (NOTE - I said AT the time----we were all confused with that stuff from ACura -- rebadging)
