- 18mpg from 79K (when I bought the car) to 90K
- 20mpg after timing belt, water pump, drive belts changed
- 22mpg after oil change w/NSX Oil Filter

why do u think an oil filter would help gas mileage???
Mere coincidence. I'm just posting what I noticed. It could've been coincidence that 4000 miles after my timing belt, the timing belt and all the remaining drive belts were not as tight, or whatever the case may be.

I didn't want to drop $300 on a new set up when my old muffler rusted off, so for around $100 i got a universal
Please correct me if I am wrong, most universal mufflers are rated only up to 150 Horsepower, after that, it becomes obsessively loud, simply because it can't handle that much power coming out of it.

i'm pretty sure this muffler, whether its actually a "universal" or some cheap performance knock-off, is doing quite fine with my G1's 161 horses.:) i really like the tone, to be truthful.
The G1 has 161 hp? I thought it had more. You got the 2.5 or the 2.7? ah, that's ok, I don't think I would know anyhow, since I don't even own a G1. But, just curious, what are the HP vs. Torque specs of the G1.

As for the muffler dying or something, I don't believe so, it's just louder, since the material used for the low tone and such are in there for a reason, but too much power may lessen the effect of softening the tone.

does anyone get better performance and/or milage with a higher grade of gas. I use 89 octane, but I am wondering if it would be to my advantage to swith to 90 or 91 (or maybe even 92). I did hear that using a gas grade higher than what you car was rated at can actually hurt the car (something about when you start up and stuff), this true?
I can tell you on other cars, since my Legend requires Premium, I only use Premium.

But, when I owned a 96 Teg GS-R Sedan, I could tell a noticeable difference in MPG on an 80-100MPH average speed:

Regular Unleaded [87 Octane]: 22.5MPG
Plus Unleaded [89 Octane]: 24.25 MPG
Super Unleaded [92 Octane]: 25.40 MPG

Keep in mind, the 96 Teg GS-R has VTEC which opens an add'l small valve at 5000 RPMs.
