acpac-jet- As you probabally already know, ANYTHING but OEM will be an improvement. The OEM muffler is just huge and quiets the motor just a little too much. I didn't want to drop $300 on a new set up when my old muffler rusted off, so for around $100 i got a universal single-in, dual-out with 2.5" chrome tips welded on. With this muffler 1/3 the size of the OEM, the tone gives a very nice hum under 3000 rpms (enough to set off car alarms in parking structures) and a nice VRROOMM when starting. Maybe (!) some power gains in the mid RPMs. Also, looks much better than stock.

Anyway, just giving you an alternative in case you don't want to spend a lot more money on an OEM muffler or an after-market "performance" muffler.
asianlegend- i'm not sure what you mean by, "obessively loud," but its only moderatly loud under 3000 rpms (still softer than any after-market exausts) and quiet as a bee after 3k. is there any risk of me blowing the thing off or damaging it?

i'm pretty sure this muffler, whether its actually a "universal" or some cheap performance knock-off, is doing quite fine with my G1's 161 horses.:) i really like the tone, to be truthful.

-if anything, its best to stay with a coupe or an 89-90 sedan. i would suppose ten horsepower is more than nominal. a 161 hp is just enough to have fun with (i suppose for its weight).
