Hello everyone,

I'm looking to buy a used car and I found one that I'm considering. It's a 1993 Acura Legend with a 3.2L V6 SOHC 24V engine. The title status is salvage and the price is 5,800$. I'm wondering if I should buy the car or not.

I'd like to hear from forum members who have experience with this model car. Are there any common issues that I should be aware of? Any advice on how to make sure that I'm getting a reliable car? Is the salvage title a concern?

I'm also wondering what kind of cost I should expect for maintenance and repairs. What can I do to make sure that I'm not spending a lot of money on repairs?

Thanks for your help. Any advice or opinion would be greatly appreciated.

Well, salvage could be water damage due to high tide. I would like to know more about that.

The car is 30 years old. It is more likely to be due to technical aging. This Legend allready still looks very clean in the pictures.

I myself own such a Legend as a coupé for at least 19 years. It has been quite reliable over this time. However, I don't drive it often anymore because it's too good for me to drive every time and I have other cars.

Greetings
Ralph

If you don’t want “to spend a lot of money on repairs,” buy something else. Like maybe a retired Crown Vic Police Interceptor (CVPI, aka P71). The Gen 2 Legends were always high maintenance cost cars. I had mine from 1998-2004, when parts were still more readily available (Honda still supported them with parts, although new OEM parts were top dollar, and they were more available in junkyards). Mine started at 81K, drove it to 221K, mostly freeway. Even buying junkyard pulls or remanned, I spent as much on repairs as I did on the car.

This is very true. It's hella hard finding parts for these cars. Ebay has been my friend. These are "premium unleaded fuel only" cars...not sure the cost of gas where you are but that's another thought. That said...I love my Legend!

oh yeah. Best car I ever owned. But someone here once said it best: BUYING a Legend and OWNING a Legend are two very different things. Neither is ‘cheap.’
