Just had a JDM swap done on my car using the original trans. I took it for a test drive and all seemed OK until I tried flooring it a few times. The first couple times all was well, but then the third time, I heard a slight grinding coming from the trans when I floored it. I tried it again, this time slowly accelerating and the grinding sound grew slowly and went away as I reached the top speed. If I then drove it for a minute and tried it again, I could floor it maybe once before the same grinding sound started again.
It's possible that when the trans was installed, the mechanic filled the trans with motor oil instead of trans fluid. I don't know for sure... would this cause these symptoms?
