Has anyone tried these shock/struts?

Nope, my guess would be Koni's, GC's or Ksports and maybe a KYB or Tokiko here and there. I would go with the latter two before ^ though just to be safe quality wise. But Hell I am the guy that bought the cheap stage III clutch so maybe not lol (at me)

Gotta pay to play. They'll pay for themselves in a hurry, I'm sure! I wish I had the spare change myself...

Well, the price of the Koni's are going to be out of my league for what else I need to do... I cannot justify plocking down $650+ for that one component when I could pick up a set of KYB's GR2's + some used Eibach springs (which I think highly of from use on a previous car) for approx. 50% of the Koni price.

I just need to get it back to 'new' or a little better than new, and I'm solid... I don't need (or want) it to be a track car.

Technicality but $650+ isn't right...

Tirerack has them at $140 ea... that's $580.

The Koni's aren't necessarily a track suspension: they're a well built street suspension that can support the higher spring rates of lowering springs (ie. Eibach/HR/GC/etc). Koni's are known to be far more durable then the KYB's. For that matter, it was recommended to me that OEM were better then KYB as well.

I was going by some e-bay prices I was looking at.

That sucks to hear about the KYB's.... I had hopes for them.

Konis are the best strut out there to handle drop (short of coilovers) and are known to last much better then KYBs.

Simple as that. Do it!

I got KYB's and lowered. I'm doing pretty good for now. I do know it's not recommended though.

Don't be swayed too easily, KYB's are a great replacement for stock. If you're looking for a stock ride and you're not planning on slamming it down, there is no reason not to go with the KYB GR-2. Reportedly, they are a little stiffer than stock and paired up with Eibach or Vogtland springs you'll get a 1" drop.
Munro also makes replacement shocks/struts for Legends, but I have yet to hear any recommendations for them from anyone.
We have a lot of discerning Legend owners here and they will let you know that the preferred shock/strut around these parts are the Koni's. If you're an enthusiast and want an upgrade over stock, or if you're planning on lowering more than 1", then Koni is definitely the way to go.
And finally, if you're obsessive, or are looking for a serious track suspension, there are some great coil over options starting at around $760...

Good to know - thanks a lot. The pricing on the KYB's + Eibach's is something I can stomach, and I don't "need" the features of a coilover on this car. I just need to tighten it back up to make it feel safe and hopefully get it a littler taunter than OEM. From what I have been reading on the KYB's it looks like the drop the Eibach's give is about all they can take, but that's fine with me.

I had a set of Eibach's on a previous car and was really impressed with them. They held the car nice and flat and coupled with a set of Bilsteins the combined rebound rate over bumps and irregularities in the road surface transformed that vehicle into something that felt *good* compared to what it felt like with the stock shocks and springs. I just wish Bilstein made a strut for our car....

What does the handling of your car feel like with the KYB's and the springs? I'm assuimg you are using Eibach or Vogtland springs? Do you feel that the combined upgrade gave you a better than OEM feel overall?

My car is handling pretty good. Eibach springs. I like the way they feel and look. I did it mostly for the look and I have no complaints. I just didn't have the cash to get better shocks. I got my shocks on ebay and installed them myself with a friend. I was looking at over 1k shocks plus installation for konis. Ended up paying a little less than $300 for kyb's installed.

kyb's suck period. I've seen too many blow. Not legends as much but other cars. I've not heard too many ppl happy with the ride quality.

I would strongly recommend KONI's. its a much more quality shock. it'll last longer in the long run and you'll really enjoy the ride quality over anything else.

goto shox.com my friend ordered the koni kit (koni shocks and springs) from them, i told him to call them and sell them he is a forum member (he isn't but lurks) they sold him a set shipping under $600.

The ebay link u posted, looked like OEM replacement type shocks. probably like a monroe shock relabeled.

Wow: under $600 for the kit? Now I'm super bitter that I put new front struts alone on last year...

Shox.com are good people: dealing with them for my rear sway bar purchase was a good experience.

Just my 2 cents:

I'm going with the KYB GR2's w/ the Vogtland springs from eBay for like $340+ shipping...cuz i can't stomach spending all that money either on suspension, i don't need more than a 1" drop either, and when I hit the FDR coming from the BX going to BK...man those roads are destructive on my Legend, cuz thats how my stock suspension got f*cked up in the first place. personally i still want the stock ride feeling.

but hey if you feel like blowing a wad of cash Astigracing got those JIC VIP coilovers if you want performance with comfort.
