I've seen the DIY threads on removing the airbag, steering wheel and clockspring, so replacing it with a good one should be doable without too much pain, but I was wondering if anyone has actually pulled the little apart to find out what breaks.

no comments? I am curious as to what makes a $200+ part worth that much, and why it brakes.

cool, thanks for the info. Did you find out what broke in the first place? Also, what else uses the clock spring? I noticed only my radio buttons don't work.

my cruise control and horns work fine, the only thing that doesn't work are the stereo control buttons. Could there be something else that is causing them not to work?

I guess it is time to pull out the stereo and examine the wiring.
