This post reminded me of my 96K concerns and subsuquent BHG evidence
at 240K. Go to the radiator/Ac people or the dealer. Maybe change the
thermostat. Do do the radiator CO2/chem blue tests to see if hydrocarbons
are in you radiator. Do the leak down test, Do the cylinder compression tests.
You may not do these all at once; however, if symptoms persist.progress,
you will have entered the BHG zone which is ultimately revealed when nothing
works despite how much and how often you add coolant. The vehicle is noted
for over heating/head gasket related issues. Get the leak down test. Check
the radiator with NAPA hydrocarbon test(Chem blue?) Short term resolution
may be comforting, but,. no heat in the winter will be a "first alert." I spent
beaucoup dollars on the cooling system (Thermostat, radiator, hoses, clamps,
etc.) before I realized/accepted that co2 was escaping from my cylinders
into my cooling system. In fairness, the problem may have been an undertreated coolant problem that lead to the BHG. Once it was in progress.
it kept going and going. This site was the ultimate source of diagnosis.
Final thought: overflow tank, exhaust smoke, erratic idle, erratic Temp gauge?
Do a search; overheating 101 is an excellent start. Meanwhile carry water
and Acura Type II coolant although Type II might be an afterthought at
this stage. I hope that I am wrong. Good luck.
