Guys I wreaked my 90 coupe ! :eek2: Due to my stabilizer bar snaping away from my lower control arm at the stabilizer link bolt assembly totally snapped where it connects to the lower control arm. The lower arm is also bent to hell at a angle! Damn! I'm not sure if it happned when i hit the curb or before because i made a sharp cut aka. nascar style. Payin the price now!
I have 3 pinpoint concers I have while trying to assemble this back myself.
1. I got under there and start rippin it up I got everything in the assembly of the lower arm out but i can't get it detatched fromt he wheel hub. It apperently has some sort of pivitoing boot joint thats keeping it locked in there , how do i get this off? I can see the bolt thats looks as if it would slide right off bu this thing is just on there! Are there berrings or a special tool i need to get it off and out ? This must be replaced it bowed at a 20 degree angle.
2. Also the stabilizer bar. I don't want to take chances and have this thing snap on me again, i dunno if it was the actual bolts that held it on or total failure of ther bar or lower arm itself. How hard is this to get off? I haven't attepted at detaching it because it looks complex , as it runs under the exaust pipe/catback then connects to the other lower control arm on my drivers side. Looks as if its a single bar correct? Would getting this bar out require removal of my exauxst system? Boy I hope not
3. How much should I expect on spending for the stabilizer bar and lower control arm? Should i expect to replace anything other than the clearly damaged parts ? i.e bushings ,seals , nuts?
I will be getting this inspected after i do the repairs ,Don't nee any more crashing. Doesn't look to hard but time cosuming? Should I attempt the repair? or take it in now?
