High Pressure a/c hose

2021 Views 7 Replies 3 Participants Last post by  Bgould
I'm a new guy to the forums and trying to fix up my legend... The auto shop quoted me $500 to fix my high pressure a/c hose and recharge my a/c system... I'd like to knock that number WAY down by doing the work myself but I don't even know where to start. The mechanic said that the line was resting on the exhaust manifold for some reason and melted the plastic, I need to figure out which line is the high pressure and how to remove if from the system to inspect it, does anyone know how to do this?

P.S. I'm trying to learn all I can about my legend and to help in the forums too! I'm a 19 year old who's loving my car and fixing it up :) I just don't know much yet haha, thanks for the help

one more thing! it has already lost compression and released the gasses
if you can get your post count up and post pics that would help. but you should be able to do it your self if you know how to work on cars. but also if your car is 91/92 you have to be licesensed to buy freon but if its 93-95 you can buy the r134 from any local parts store.
it's the hose between the compressor and the condenser... but I can't figure out how to get to it and i can't see which one it is, while i work on it i'd like to do a DIY tutorial if i can be pointed in the correct direction

all you have to do is make a clean write up and post detailed pics and ill move it to the diy section.

First you need to get a replacement hose and drier at a minimum. Look on the online manual as it will give step by step on most things. To access the a/c hoses you will need to remove the battery and tray so you can see your hoses. Here are a couple of ugly pictures but will give you an idea:

Here is the compressor and the two hoses coming off of it (these are from a 92 so both hoses go to the front, 93-95 one hose goes up and over the engine instead).

Here is a different angle of the same car except now the hoses are covered with paper:

As you can see the hoses go directly under the battery tray.
