I also own a Toyota in addition to my Legend. I need a transmission fluid change. Just wondering if anyone knows whether it's all right to use Honda ATF in a Toyota.

Honda ATF is just ATF right? Doesn't matter which car it goes in? Or is it made specifically for Honda/Acuras? If so why?

Thanks in advance for any input. Much appreciated.

David.

From what I can recall, the Honda ATF has a high silicone content needed for our trannys.

If I'm incorrect, some one will speak up :D

Spiff is right. Honda ATF has a high silicone content which our trannys like. It is also usually more expensive than regular off-the-shelf tranny fluid, so if your Toyota will be fine with the regular stuff, you shoud save the Honda ATF for your Legend.

Thanks for all your input.

vrb747: I thought since Honda ATF worked so well on our Legends that it would also make my Toyota's tranny shift smoother also.

Spiff & LegendGS: I see. Thanks for the heads up. I will take your suggestion and just stick with the regular stuff for the toyota and save my Honda ATF for my legend.

JJJ784: Not a bad idea either! =)
